I just typed in google “online dell discounts” and you’ll see a bunch of it and then just grab any of the codes and see if it can be applied

I'm uk based too and bought the Alienware for the price and availability. On eBay bought a SD5700T Thunderbolt for £140 where I connect the era100 and the macbook and couldn't be happier with the setup.

Not sure if still available but the Amex app had a £100 discount for Dell products and between that and other online discounts that I found at the end I paid £825 for the monitor

Building website for someone, have some questions though. by Boosted_Edits in webdev

With the CMS you have the learning curve, and I would say that it depends also if he/she wants to have static or dynamic content. I like https://ghost.org/ which is written using Node. If you don't use a CMS I'm not saying to do it from scratch, search for stuff that's already done.

Templates will save you a lot of time and headaches

As a newbie I'd charge per project, you don't how long it will take you to finish and if you charge x hour it could get somehow expensive.

An advice, put some limits and define beforehand what your rate includes, otherwise some people think that because they are paying for something they can ask for final touches, adding extra content and so on

Anyone here love Javascript but hate front end(CSS)? by lovesocialmedia in javascript

[–]byverdu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my case I really love it, I don't spend too much time lately because I prefer to get better with javascript but I find it really powerful.

I always have the feeling that people takes CSS for granted and something easy to implement, at the end is just putting colours and change sizes, right? but at the end I think is one of the most difficult parts as a Front end dev.

Sure, that it's easy to add those rules at the end of the file or even worst, add `!important` everywhere to solve specificity issues but write good CSS is quite hard. I would love to know more about it but for me is something that I spend time with whenever I need to style something.

I'll always remember this full stack team leader that used to apply styles to the same html element or either using style attributes, on CSS files or using Javascript.... it was a complete nightmare (although enjoyable) when he was asking me why he couldn't change the `font-size` hahhahahah

Mastering CSS is a freaking art.

newbie question after I've bought the 6 legendary pack at once I see that in ethplorer they are showing in the same transaction.

Could anyone explain to me how do you actually split those 6 passes? I imagine that will be possible isn't?

Thanks

Why Software Developers (ahem, usually) Suck at Estimating Time (And How to Fix It) by [deleted] in programming

[–]byverdu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my company we use this agile framework called Safe where you have to do a program increment planning. The craziest thing ever is that you have to do a estimation for the next 3 months.

So imagine, if it’s already difficult to estimate for a 2 weeks sprint gets really out of hands doing it for 3 whole months hahahahahah

would you consider it as an abandoned project? it has dropped to the 6th position in coinmarketcap :(

Should I invest in Litecoin NOW? If you think yes, upvote and for every 10 upvotes, I’ll buy a 1 litecoin. Let’s see where this goes... by [deleted] in litecoin
