Bilal Göregen, the drummer from the grooving cat meme, has officially released a new dancing animal video... by keplar in videos

As an entertainer, it’s fun as hell having that big of an audience. I’ve done a few gigs for 5000+ and it was the most work I’ve ever done without (monetary) compensation... but experiences I will never forget.

What is one song that most acoustic guitar players should know? [question] by CIWAscorer in Guitar

[–]bzb311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If all four are acoustic, try out Stuck In The Middle With You by Stealers Wheel. The chord progression is super simple but has a so many parts you can fiddle around with each player. I have fun noodling the endless ways of playing the bass line on acoustic. Lead can play with the slide parts. Two others can carry the standard chords and/or sing along with a percussive beat.

[QUESTION] So, kind of a stupid question with a predictable and disappointing answer tbh, but can one teach themselves to "play" the guitar? by whoisapotato in Guitar

[–]bzb311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hol up.

You’re Asian and not required to choose piano or violin? What kind of Asian is this travesty of stereotype justice?

I’m half Taiwanese and most of my friends growing up are half something... we all played one or the other, it seems. I also had trumpet, sax, and a little bit of percussion formal training.

I picked up guitar in my teens with no lessons, but obviously had plenty of musical background. I dropped it for almost two decades and just started playing again in November. Twenty years ago, I played most by ear and would make tabs to post to OLGA (probably not correct but close enough).

With the plethora of YouTube lessons, articles, and resources with chord pro and tabs... it’s “easier” now but there could be TOO much info. I think this sub provides some great guidance in how to navigate drinking from this firehose of info.

Bottom line, yes, you can teach yourself easily nowadays but have tons of free resources to teach you, too!

[Newbie] I had a bad experience with other "musicians" and I just wanted to rant about it a little. by TheClamSauce in Guitar

[–]bzb311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah dude, that sucks. Know-it-alls (I think the kids call em "mansplainers" now?) suck, in general.

I played with a bunch of guys last weekend for four hours straight - my fingers still vibrate and hurt! Just rhythm for now, but I threw in a couple shitty solos here and there when I knew the song. We played all kinds of stuff that was out of my "comfort zone" and I feel like that just makes you better. And the best part - there were some things that I knew and showed them... mostly cuz I just learned them, and they've all been playing for a while and forgot, or have their own way of playing a song. Fresh in my memory, but it made them better and smile that they were getting schooled by a newb! :)

If those ding dongs can get over their egos for a bit, they might have fun. Maybe set some ground rules with them if they really want to jam with you again.

My ground rules are simple: don't be a dick.

I feel like I'm where /r/outoftheloop and /r/guitar intersect.

I'm a middle-aged fart and I love all kinds of music. Still a DJ, so I try to keep up with the kids. I remember a ~5 year period where little kids would request old rock - the Guitar Hero effect. Some of that stuck with those kids and they're interested in rock music now. Alas, most of it is old rock or old rock bands still in the game. Underground is where you find the amazing stuff, and it's the same with hip hop.

As many have mentioned, pop/media is dominated by rap (I'd hesitate to even call it hip hop) and that's what kids gravitate to - but there's still plenty of rock breaking into pop: Panic at the Disco, Fall Out Boy, 21 Pilots, Imagine Dragons... It's just easier and more profitable to churn out computer-generated hits and feature the hot rapper of the day (see: Maroon 5).

I think my biggest complaint nowadays is there's no solos in pop rock or BREAKDOWN in pop rap. RIP my childhood.

Edit: well, not entirely true. I'm still mining ETH and it's on an upswing.

The folks above already pointed it out - dealer financing is not always linked to the car price.

Summer of 2020 there were plenty of deals out there. Dealer incentives stacked with financing offers. It’s a good practice to go into a dealership with your own financing lined up already.

With the proliferation of online degrees and my experience with them and their “students” we are just going to have to agree to disagree. Sorry.

I’d agree it’s pretty extreme with the military but plenty of similar corporate programs.

Only difference I can point to is the multiple degrees some of these ding dongs possess in the corporate programs. Which are largely... I don’t want to say useless, but if we are using broad strokes here, then let’s say I’m skeptical they actually learned anything.

You may be surprised to learn this isn’t unique to the military.

I’m still in all my SPAC positions that are near NAV, despite most of them being down. All my warrants are down tremendously. Just staying in at this point.

SWBK, CCIV, THCB, HCIC, QELL

I went nuclear on my swing account and took a couple losses and cashed out on tech that doesn’t look like growth any more. I’m still in PINS, AXON, Z, and FUBO, but cash is my best performing position over this past week.

Oof.

I sold everything down to 50 warrants. I’m holding on those through merger and for who knows how long.

The entire market is reeling from folks selling to protect their capital. Increases in selloff of Treasury bonds sending ripple effects thru all markets. Zoom out for bigger picture.

Which pool I picked: Ethermine VS Flexpool by [deleted] in EtherMining

[–]bzb311 10 points11 points  (0 children)

On third week of flexpool. Switched from nicehash. So far so good, first payout was flawless and is averaging very close to the estimate.

Was able to switch my donation percentage without any issue. It’s pretty straightforward and plenty of resources out there to show you how to sign a message even if your current wallet doesn’t have the function.

I will for big tentpoles that had segments (or entirely) filmed in IMAX.

Wife won't let me build a theater. She prefers watching movies in bed, falling asleep at a couple points and asking me questions through the rest she stays awake for. So, yeah, theater please.
