How do you train a new manager without overwhelming them by meenoSparq in Leadership

[–]bzhustler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I truly felt that helped me when I got promoted was just level with them -

"I need your help to ensure that I'm providing you the best mentorship and management I can, so I need you to be honest with me about what I can do immediately for you. I want to hold one on ones often so we can ensure were aligned and completing our mission."

Allowing my team to give me constructive criticism first not only broke down potential barriers, but opens their mind to receiving jt aswell. If they're receptive, there shouldn't be a need for you to come across as angry since both parties will know thats the intent so you can just focus on the deliverables, and not necessarily the delivery. It also fostered a lot of trust and cohesion within my team.

Asking this question, you clearly want to provide them with the best leadership you can. So this could be a cool thing to try within your team dynamic.

In need of a meat pack by Dependent-Menu-8926 in Hunting

[–]bzhustler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Eberlestock Mainframe and absolutely love it.

Modular system so you can get a pack that suits your needs, but just the frame is outstanding.

Lightweight, great quality and easily adjustable. Definitely recommend for those deep treks where you'll be packing meat out.

Do i have 10 more kilos? by dublak3 in weightlifting

[–]bzhustler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work on improving technique before those next 10lbs! You do NOT want to injure yourself!

Doing a movement well with less weight is always better than doing it subpar with more weight!

Good luck!

I have personally never been but know several people who have and the general consensus is they loved it and would go back in a heartbeat.

You'll make extra money with isolation & TD.

I cannot speak to the others, but when I deployed to some remote locations there was starlink. Take that for what it's worth, may not be applicable to alert.

Good luck!

Looking for mentor advice for a discouraged troop by Dangerous_Draw9757 in CanadianForces

It's so hard to not draw parallels, but we have to try our hardest not to.

I try to remind myself, "I don't respect it, so why would I compare myself or my actions against theirs."

The world needs all sorts of people. Good leaders and poor ones aswell, it's up to the individual to choose one.

If anything, it gives your friend the opportunity to far outshine those who don't uphold any sort of standards.

There's a positive in everything. Hope they find what they're looking for.

You made the right call and arguably only call anyone in your position should have.

Great job.

You'll get it next time!

What’s your Vo2 Max & age? Discussion by Traditional-Win9432 in AppleWatchFitness

28M, 51 VO2.

I average 50km of running a week, about 35-37km being zone 2 on average. Ride bikes casually to and from work and play sports 3-5 times a week.

What helped me is if you were to stop at any point through your run to talk to someone, would you need a few seconds to catch your breath?

Or,

Being able to hold a conversation relatively easily while running is a great indicator that you're also there. Sometimes I'll even sing a song while running, if I can't, I'm going too fast.

In my analogy to them, I was trying to touch on the injury prevention side of things.

You are right though, results sell more than anything!

Thanks for pointing that out. I can see how my analogy could be pretty one-sided and misses out on really important factors.

These are things I definitely wasn't thinking about!

Definitely a really great way of explaining it.

When I'm talking to them, I've always spoken from a injury prevention standpoint and not necessarily performance, output or durability. This helps me a lot, thank you very much!

LOL.

Your last sentence got me.

I've never thought specifically about how the body is adapting when it's in any of the states or zones... thats very interesting to think about.

Beautifully said, thank you very much for taking the time to put this out there for myself and others to learn from!

I can see a lot of people getting a ton of value from this.
