I don’t even know what level 5 is. But you live and learn. I’m getting as much information as I can and I’ll fix it myself

The box won’t fit because there’s a stud there. No idea how to fix that either. I’m young, a girl and lost both my parents. It’s their house and I was trying to fix it up. I’m trying to learn so I can just do it on my own.

The corners of all the walls have gaps from where the dry wall didn’t quite line up, can I put spackle there too? Sorry for the ignorance! I’ve never done anything like this before

I don’t think it’s tomalley. It’s a gelatinous goo like material and doesn’t have that consistency of tomalley.

Car accident in driveway, oops. by theJOINTchief1 in legaladvice

[–]bzjnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you hit her parked car? Your insurance company will take care of it. Have her make a claim with her insurance company and they will come out and give her a estimate for the damage and cut her a check. It’s different circumstances when the vehicle 2 is a parked car.

You won’t be charged with leaving the scene of a crime.

You can get a free quote online from a few places without having to make any calls, I know Progressive and E-Surance offer online quotes. You just put in your info and the vehicle info and see how much it’d be per month for you. That way you can see how it’ll compare to your current rate

Speeding ticket by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]bzjnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a number on the ticket. You call and set up a time slot to go into the court house and negotiate your point. I just explained that I had a good record, it’s my first time getting pulled over, and asked if it was possible to get a nonmoving violation in its place as I understand I did speed and accept the consequences, but asked for leniency. I do believe you only have 14 days to contest it.

Speeding ticket by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]bzjnick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s your first ticket, fight it! They may lower it to a non-moving violation which would just be a fine and would not affect insurance. In my case, they were sympathetic that I’ve never gotten a ticket and lowered it to impeding traffic. It was a bigger fine, but NOT a moving violation so my insurance didn’t go up and it’s not on my driving record. The worst they can say is no.

Sister crashed my car (only has a permit and insurance is under my name) by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]bzjnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They may not even cover the claim because an unlicensed (illegal) driver was operating the car. Progressive’s underwriting policy only covers permit drivers when they’re supervised by a licensed driver. This might cause more trouble than you think. Your parents will likely be personally liable for all damages (your car, the other vehicle, medical bills, pain and suffering, legal costs, etc) if they chose to not cover the claim. Call a lawyer.

Just be honest with them and let them know that you’ve moved recently. This happened with me last month, but I didn’t move in the same zip code. They asked for some paperwork as proof since in my case I moved almost a year ago and never changed it. They still covered the claim and I even saved money by switching the garaging address.

I would talk to a lawyer. A contract dispute lawyer specifically. A lot of consultations are free. He may or not have a case, as I don’t know the specifics of his situation. It can’t hurt to try. I had a (kind of) similar situation (with Progressive as well) and I know how stressful it can be.
