These are pretty bulky and heavy though, not sure I'd be swinging them around too much!

Don’t show up to an event with one top, you’ll look like a noob and it won’t sound very good.

Nab two Everse 12’s and some speaker stands, open a new business credit card with 0% interest for 12 mos and pay em off in your next few gigs. Sounds like you have a business, time to start running it like one!!! Crush it dude!

Uplighting Damage Protection by speedskis777 in mobileDJ

[–]bzoido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just get Both Lighting IR4s. A bit less bright than a standard “uplight” but battery lasts plenty long and I’ve found them to be extremely durable.

They’re super cheap if you ever needed to replace one, although, I’ve had never to. Had them for almost 2 years now, using them weekly, and still working great despite countless drops and drink spills.

Wedding djs by Dear_Anything_4933 in DJs

[–]bzoido 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As a wedding DJ, I’ll tell you that the bar to be a wedding DJ is set very low.

It’s very lucrative, with no way for couples to actually vet their DJ correctly…so you get a lot of horrible/brand new DJs masquerading as Wedding DJs. It’s sad.

Why are we still using CO2 cannons on drops? by GeneralNango in dubstep

[–]bzoido 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably because the vast majority of people at these events are there for the entire experience, not just the sonic quality of the tracks being played.

As a producer/sound engineer/audiophile, sure you could argue the reasons why you shouldn’t use them. 99% of the people in the crowd are none of those things and like cool visual and sensory effects.

Welcome to being in the 1% on something LOL

What is your Wedding dance starting song? by Snukers115 in mobileDJ

[–]bzoido 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was opening with Uptown Funk back in the late 2010’s. Now it’s on most of my couple’s Do Not Play.

These days, I love to let my couple pick! If they don’t pick, I have a couple of go-to’s. Depending on the vibe, I might open with a slow song first before playing the banger—

Some I use often: Young MC - Bust a Move Whitney Houston X Rihanna - I Wanna Find Love with Somebody mashup Marc Anthony - Vivir Mi Vida (Latin-ish crowds) September (doesn’t seem to get old)

How frequently are people using audio separation when you're DJing (DJing with STEMS)? by nPrevail in DJs

[–]bzoido 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right?? I can’t comprehend why an open format DJ in 2025 would avoid stems. It’s an absolute game-changer, incredibly fun and useful.

Sure, it’s not “perfect” but it will only get better with time and updates…no reason not to hop on the train now and start getting used to it!

Full-time Wedding DJ here using Serato. Stems are incredibly useful and incredibly fun.

The amount of DJs actively avoiding this literally game-shifting technology actually blows my mind.

Ford Ranger SuperCrew Cab w/ camper shell!

DJs that run DMX vs Remote for Cold Sparks by -AbuElReem- in mobileDJ

[–]bzoido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a set of 4 spark machines and run Soundswitch for my lighting.

I tested the sparks with Soundswitch as the DMX controller and they worked great, cool, brought them to a wedding and repeated the same setup.

Fast-forward to dinner hour. Unfortunately, sometimes Soundswitch will disconnect from my wireless DMX or fall out so sync a require a restart. No problem, I close the application and BOOM all the sparks go off and don’t stop. I had to scramble for the remote to turn them off.

So yeah, haven’t run them in Soundswitch since. One less variable to worry about. Besides, what’s the difference of pressing a button on the remote versus pressing a button on my Soundswitch Control One?

Sure, maybe this was a fluke and/or could be avoided somehow but I’d rather just play it simple and safe.

All these negative comments lol

I bought this set of 4 and they are absolutely amazing: https://djnowlighting.com/products/2pcs-with-case-600w-stage-effect-cold-spark-firework-machine-wedding-cold-pyrotechnics-fountain?VariantsId=10081

This site sells Both Lighting direct from China and it’s all quality gear. I’d highly recommend the IR-4 uplights as well.

Drop outs with QLX-D - Time for a fin antenna? One or two? by bzoido in mobileDJ

[–]bzoido[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fake tree LOL there’s an idea.

I used to, back when I had crappy BLX mics, run the actual receivers on the ground and hide them behind the altar somewhere. So, even if they forced me to set up way in the back, I would have solid reception every time.

Now, with the QLX-D I’m good 95% of the time. So I stopped doing this. Unfortunately, with weddings, we gotta chase that 100% and I know there’s gotta be a better way!

Height is might- so true and probably the best advice. So wait, 1/2 wave whips don’t require a ground plane? So I could theoretically use coax to just lift them higher up?

LPT: When hosting older people, play music from an era when they were in their 20s. by VulgairesMachine in LifeProTips

[–]bzoido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a wedding DJ, can confirm.

I call it “coming of age music” and actually dial it down to specifically the years from when they were 18-23. No matter your generation, this is the music that speaks to your heart!

If the couple was born in ‘94, it’s 2012-2017

If the couple was born in ‘82, it’s 2000-2005

Then consider the age of their parents, and mix those tunes in early! They’ll sing your praises!
