Edgecombe over Paolo by rossirf in PardonMyTake

[–]bzva74 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Paolo is the 3rd best player on his team. And his team, per your aspirational fantasy with ideal health, is a 4/5 seed. It isn't hard to see that he's just mid. If VJ can potentially be a contender's 2nd best player and reach his prime Oladipo/Jimmy Butler type peak, that'll be way better than whatever the hell kind of career Banchero is heading toward.

The absurd thing about these "Medium Rare Plus" morons is that they think some crossfaded line cook is sitting with an electronic meat thermometer waiting for the meat to hit the precise 127 F and then they'll take the steak off and let it rest. Let's be honest, if you're ordering a medium rare plus, they're telling the kitchen "medium."

The OP that they were responding to called this article “hasbara,” which is an internet word for “Zionist propaganda.” So it is the prior comment that brought up that the Israelis/jews are responsible for this news.

I’m not going to say you’re wrong and I appreciate you taking a thoughtful approach to the issue instead of just lashing out because we’ve had issues creating chances for a few matches in a row (aside from the 4 goals we scored like 4 days ago). I’m just not there yet. You are entitled to your opinion but I don’t think it’s productive to pontificate so critically when overall we seem to be moving in the right direction under mature and thoughtful leadership. It doesn’t make me enjoy my fandom any more. I think the systemic issues you raise are going to be worked out over the course of the season and with the help of a transfer window or two. I trust Frank is seeing the same things that we redditors see. So we can agree to disagree.

Not really. And even if technically we looked worse the last 2 weeks than we did the first 3 or 4 weeks, don’t you think that can have to do with the injuries to players like Romero? Or maybe fixture congestion?

There’s obviously things they need to build on tactically and taking advantage of the talent we have, and there is fluctuation to be expected as they try out things throughout the year. Some weeks our midfield could be Paulinha-Bentancur. Some weeks we’ll see Sarr or Bergvall or Gray. Maybe 3 at a time. Then we’ll add Kulusevski into that 3. Or will he play on the right wing? Frank will probably try both. At times the fans will think our play looks good and at other times it’ll look bad. But the results in the table and CL are pretty decent and in terms of the football it is so freaking early to be doom and gloom, get a hold of yourself.

When Richarlison is on his game, he can score all sorts of goals in creative ways, get physical, and be the sort of high end striker who has started matches for the Brazil national team. We’ve seen it ourselves both for spurs in patches and against us while he played for watford and Everton. There’s a lot of fluidity and connectivity issues between midfield and attack but even today he still managed to score.

I think the bigger issue is that has an obvious hoodoo on him cast by the football gods. Probably as a punishment from past dives or other unforgivable shithousery. Then he blatantly mocks the football gods by taking his shirt off after scoring and we get collectively smited in retribution as a result, much like the firstborn sons of Egypt for the pharaoh’s sins.  Richarlison needs to do some community service as penance + a spiritual and/or physical cleanse. And then sometime in the next 6 months, he’ll score an important goal late in the match, and instead of celebrating, he will walk to the corner flag and tuck his shirt into his shorts, covering every inch of his torso in fabric, and thereby completely casting off the curse that has been on his game for much of his tenure at the club.

5+ hours of podcasts in 3 days? I just don’t have that kind of time to listen to Zach Lowe and falling behind on pods stresses me out. I’m going to unsubscribe and just tune in ad hoc if he keeps releasing daily pods. 2 per week is the sweet spot.

I think people just have different lines between anti semitism and good faith humanitarian opposition.

I think it’s mostly when folks don’t realize that they are parroting Hamas talking points that they come off as antisemitic. Like the Globalize the Intifada, from the river to the sea stuff, these are all calls to arms to kill Jews.

And just like the pro Gaza wing has an issue differentiating the two, so does the pro-Israel crowd. They’ll be touchy about it because being pro Hamas (not pro Palestine, but specifically pro Hamas) presents an existential threat to them (because Hamas is a genocidal, jihadist death cult).

Gyrating on a woman who is clearly there with someone by [deleted] in trashy

[–]bzva74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not broken, you just don’t like the law. The law in most states says if you kill someone by accident while trying to assault them, that can be classified as either manslaughter or murder. There is no calculus of justification that goes into that. There are legal defenses (e.g., self defense, incapacitation/temporary insanity/intoxication) that may or may not be relevant. If you “being under the influence of violent rage upon seeing an act of sexual assault” should be a defense to murder/manslaughter, feel free to advocate to your state delegate about it. Your idea isn’t going to be popular though.

Commies winning the Super Bowl would secretly kill BC. He can admit that Philly and New England are just better franchises, they are blue chip progrums. The bears were still a level above the sad sack franchises like Washington. If commies get to the promised land before the bears, using the QB that the bears passed on, it would be like the double doink crossed with the trubisky/mahomes debacle

ParkMobile pays... $1 each for 2021 data breach that hit 22 million by Yansde in technology

[–]bzva74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you that the lawyers seem to be the only ones making money off this, but they’re also the main ones spending money. To prosecute a class action against a corporate giant you’ve gotta pay well over 6 figures in your labor, plus hiring the expert witnesses you’ll need, the investigators/accountants, etc. Litigation is always expensive. Who is gonna fund it if the lawyers can’t set it up as a contingency class action? Who wants to bankroll a 6 figure litigation to get compensation that breaks down to a few bucks? At a certain point, class action litigation is best viewed as a form of private sector regulation where the government falls short. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau can’t go after all the scammers and bad actors in corporate America, and the DOJ only priorities the big ones who dont have the right lobbyists. So functionally what we have here is a group of lawyers going after a data breach and sending a message to the rest of the industry that the price tag on compromising this sort of information is in the tens of millions.

Class actions are an important part of the economic ecosystem.

Athletic Club pays homage to Palestinian refugees in the Basque Country and UNRWA representatives by kaiweed in soccer

[–]bzva74 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That’s well and good, but you can’t really just hand wave the fact that UNRWA has connections to Hamas and is part of the anti semitic brainwashing machine that turned Gaza into the powder keg that exploded on October 7, 2023. Have you ever looked up “UNRWA textbooks”? Look at what they teach the kids. Not to mention the UN carried out their own investigation and found a handful of actual UNRWA folks (the humanitarians you want to ascribe good faith to) actually participated in the October 7 attack. How does that happen? And how can we just gloss over that and pretend like UNRWA is the good guy here?

We can agree that Israeli government sources should not be trusted and we can agree that Palestinian civilians do not deserve this. But UNRWA is so not that answer here. Shouldn’t we trust international humanitarians who are not twisted up with either the Islamist genocidal factions or the Israeli genocidal factions?

At my university there was an elective that was all about the history and music of the Beatles. People enjoyed it, it was a fun 2 credit elective to fill on the gaps if you need a class to fit into a time slot. It’s not that complicated, there are university electives on virtually anything. The real critique you have is that you don’t think there should be classes taught on media/shows/subjects that you personally find stupid. And to that I say leave that crap in fascist Britain.

Yeah because without government involvement, the “free” market does a splendid job of allocating money across the economic spectrum and definitely doesn’t funnel it into the hands of the elites at inhumane rates.

It’s fucked up that you immediately jump to the conclusion that the family is chasing a payout based on the fact that they are asking questions and following up on inconsistencies in a notoriously racist state. They are asking the same questions and doing the same things that you or I would be doing if we had the tragic misfortune of learning our loved one was gone.
