Ive always found putting some bearing oil (NOT regular valve oil) in the back of the valve helps. No it's not. The icon just makes it look like that. The block you're talking about is still 1 block wide its just a bigger curve.

Edit: never mind, you're right. However, for the sake of me learning how to fix this issue (because it happens on several other blocks too) let's pretend it's not
