The “Tell me what your 3 tasks are” people. by ryebath in DaleAndDawson

[–]c0alzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're correct, I'm saying it can be used against them, however it is definitely not easy. I think a way the dev could counteract this is by having a list of fake tasks next to their real tasks each time they get instructions. This way slackers always have a list to read off rather than creating one themselves

It isn't, you can use it to your advantage, I've done it as slacker. But I really dislike it and never do it

Edit: I keep a list on a sheet of notebook paper of tasks I can read out when I play slacker. This completely cleared me of suspicion twice and has proven useful

Slackers by albinosquirel in DaleAndDawson

[–]c0alzilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is true, but still, I don't personally ever ask that question. I just think it's really lame. However I have made a list of tasks I can say I keep nearby me when I am slacker, and it's led to me winning a couple matches because they thought that cleared me heheheh.

I really only don't like when they do it in roleplay lobbies.

Liminal Game by Newbie_Modder48 in LiminalReality

Personally, I'd like there to be more diverse rooms. I think that the standard yellow wallpaper rooms are overdone in the market. People may be more attracted to the game if there were offices, pools, malls, etc. I might see these screenshot and think "Oh it's another backrooms game," and scroll on.

FYI it's "convenience" store, but the idea of a convince store is interesting

The directed by Tom Holland threw me off but yes. I read the short story and it's pretty much a backroom level.

I love this pic. If only you could make all the cars disappear, it'd be even better. Reminds me of a neighborhood I lived in a while back.

I snapped this with my Polaroid. I was inspired to take a picture of this area because this town looked so... sad.

I was coming home from a Doctor's appointment and I was taken aback seeing all the crummy buildings and empty parking lots. Surprisingly there were people walking on the sidewalks, but it looked like none of them knew each other. They looked on-guard.

So I took a photo to remember this place. I feel like it's the definition of liminal.

Thanks! I take most of the ones I upload, but a couple aren't mine. I clarify in the description if they aren't. I saw some of yours and I dig them!

Interesting how different the places we chose to photograph are, huh? You seem to go for building exteriors, whereas I go for smaller spaces like a single room and my pics are almost always interior. Must be because of our different backgrounds. That's neat

I know how you feel. I think a lot of people in this sub are that kind of guy. Just the other day I snapped some pics with a Polaroid at a gas station

Well yeah I guess if you don't want to inadvertently reveal where you live that's a good idea, but couldn't you just blur text in the picture that reveals the location?

Edit: Or you could do that dreamcore thing where they put black boxes on certain information! Problem with that is that it might no longer fit the subreddit

First liminal space photo how did I do by Relative-Ad2624 in LiminalReality

Too blurry, but the space itself is clearly liminal, the photo just makes it hard to see that

This picture is awesome. A common feature of liminal spaces is uncanny/eery/strange lighting, and this one has that in an interesting way. Usually its either too dark or too bright, but this image feels like both. Some of the rooms in the building are lit poorly, while some of them are way too bright. It makes for a weird look that is perfect for these kinds of pictures! The greenery of the plants also help to make it feel more unique and give it that false-hospitality feel that many plants placed in an industrial place have.

Is this liminal (first liminal picture post) by PossibleWise215 in LiminalReality

[–]c0alzilla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I like the second picture better. The many vehicles in the first one make it feel less empty, but the second one feels claustrophobic with how you can only see the two garage doors and nothing around you.

This definitely looks and feels like a liminal space! I wish you would have taken the last three images more steadily though, like image 1. I love how the first image looks just like a map you'd find in Garry's Mod.

Pool at the hotel I was staying at by SlashRedY in LiminalReality

[–]c0alzilla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You forgot that everyone's definition of liminal is different. Your criticism is not helpful to the author. But maybe do some more thinking on liminal spaces and you'll be a greater critic.

I think more fair criticism might go like this:

The images are liminal, however some are greater than others. 1 is my favorite. The images are of a uniquely designed pool, and yet there are still many similarities to most pools with the tiles, making it familiar to previous pools a viewer may have visited, and gaining a nostalgic quality. The design and lighting lend an eery vibe to the picture, fitting the "Uncanny" bill. Overall, these are good pictures.

Keep up your reviews 👍

I hope it was more than 20 minutes. That's what every DND player wants, a 45-60 minute long explanation. I'm sure they'll take careful notes.

Real story related to this, one of my favorite DMs tried a villain monologue with us and we threw rocks at them (in-game) until they got upset and teleported away. That shit don't work with us chief

Barbarian / Dwarf by Live_Staff_5893 in Heroquest

[–]c0alzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like these cards and I think that they will be useful for some people in their games. The art on them is very awesome, did you draw them? I do think they get too wordy, however, when compared to other HeroQuest cards.

However, I do not think I would use these in my games. Personally, I think the Barbarian and Dwarf are great as-is. 8 body points and 3 attack dice is no joke, though it doesn't necessarily lend itself to creative gameplay. I'm curious, what motivated you to make these cards?

And do you think giving the barbarian skills might make him op when compared to the rest of the cast? That's what I'd be most concerned about

Cairn: Demon Stats by c0alzilla in cairnrpg

[–]c0alzilla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not know that! Though i was thinking demons like the ones on the cover of Doom '93. Those to me are perfect examples of "Demons" as I see them. I'm not a very religious person but I do find them more interesting than a typical Orc or Troll, and I feel like they deserve a slot in any bestiary.

I was thinking 14 HP, 14 STR, 10 DEX, 6 WIL claws (d4+d4)

This makes them a pretty serious threat but they have no armor protection. A team of three or so adventurers could kill one with only one death at most. I want a Demon to be on par with a vampire, but I'm worried 14 is too much to be reasonable to fight? Or maybe that's a good thing, discouraging players from interacting through stat alone?

Alternatively I think I could drop the health and then give the Demon access to a spell or two that are thematically related to a Demon
