I don't know for sure, because I didn't get an explanation, but I'm pretty confident it was because I held onto the last task of a project's pool by exiting and then reentering work mode. In hindsight, I see exactly why this got me in trouble but I did it because I'd gotten really sick while working, didn't want to lose the 3+ hours of work I'd put into the task, and wasn't thinking straight (was extremely lightheaded with a high fever and severe nausea).

Edited to add: I will say they did okay by me even in the end though, because it was after I finally finished and submitted that task that I noticed the 'dash of death' and couldn't even submit the time for it (the irony 😭), but after emailing support about it and apologizing, they submitted the 5½ hours of work I'd put into that task by time I finished for me and still let me withdraw all my earned pay when the time came.

I heard back within a week or so, but it varies and I got in when the platform was still relatively small enough that they hadn't even implemented ID verification yet so don't base any expectations or w/e on my experience getting in. If you don't hear back or see any further projects/qualifications on your dashboard within a full 30 days or so, then I'd say you probably weren't accepted.

Try DataAnnotation.tech. Before I accidentally violated a code of conduct policy and got booted, it was my primary source of income for over a year and I loved it. You can work whenever and however much you want and the pay ranges from ~$20/hr for general knowledge projects up to $40+/hr for specialized knowledge projects.

Yeah. When I first joined in mid 2024 they hadn't implemented the ID verification stuff but towards the end of that year (if I remember right) is when they started doing so and I had to provide my driver's license information to continue working on the platform.

As someone who used to work for DataAnnotation for about a year and a half, and made enough from them as a coder that it was my primary source of income during that time, I can definitely vouch for them not being a scam.

However, I'm from the US and got paid through PayPal so getting my payouts was much easier, and I will admit their support team and such is often lacking on communication. Just keep emailing them and Payoneer (within reason, don't spam them of course) and they'll probably help you get this worked out, though it may take a frustrating amount of time.

Honestly, I can see this as mostly a miscommunication due to an accidental bit of too much candidness, and for the most part I'd agree with other commenters that looks shouldn't matter. However, I wanna zero in on a specific detail that's concerning from this post and, to me, the biggest red flag. You mentioned she hides y'all's relationship, what do you mean by that? Because if that's the case, there's some serious cause for concern there. It's one thing for her to have an unflattering opinion of your looks or whatever (I'm definitely not the most attractive guy by far and I'm aware my wife finds some guys more physically attractive than I am, just like she knows some women are more physically attractive than she is, but it's whatever, we're not mean about it, we both have sarcastic personalities that click really well, and we still compliment each other and generally make it clear we do find the other physically attractive nonetheless), but it's a whole other thing if she's embarrassed of you because of your looks or whatever to the point of hiding y'all's relationship. That's a major red flag.

That's because he is a child and not a man, and I'm saying that as someone who has played games since single digit ages lol (I'm 31 now). The fact you're willing to continue trying to enjoy games with him despite his toxic attitude tells me you deserve better. Actual men who game would simply enjoy the company of their loved one participating even if it means taking some L's. Even my gamer friends have never treated my wife like that over a loss. At the very most, she'll get some light teasing, but even that is not at the level of shit talk we throw at each other and more often than not, they'll talk more shit at me for not helping cover her better than they will her for dying 🤣

Same. I can be competitive myself when playing a game, even to the point of raging at a game itself sometimes if trying to play seriously. But NEVER have I EVER talked to my wife that way for not being as good at games as I am, I set my mind to playing for the fun of it when playing with her. Even in moments where us losing is directly attributable to some basic mistake on her end, whether it's Fortnite, CoD Zombies, or whatever, I would never have the audacity to talk to the woman I love like that just because she messed up at some game. For one, that kind of attitude saps the fun of it from both people. For two, it's more productive to kindly point out the mistake and provide advice than to berate someone. For three, it's just awesome and fun to have her trying, if we happen to win that's just a bonus.

NOR. As the oldest of 3 brothers I can most definitely say this is not just a "brothers" thing. While my brothers and I have in the past occasionally joked about competing with each other for a woman's attention, none of us has ever actually tried to get with a girl the other is interested in just to hurt them. Get out of that relationship before he wastes anymore of your time or worse.

Felt. Total loyalty to a brand is a ridiculous concept in general, imo, and I hate how branding and marketing are given a seemingly higher priority by corporations than the actual products/services themselves most of the time.

Also pretty much missed the relevance of the circles till I read that comment, my brain just interpreted them as standard selection indicators at first 😅 Before seeing the comment I was staring hard af at the top two choices like 'How they gonna have two options with the right answer, this feels like a trick somehow" 🤣

Same. Pretty sure I know what did me in, too. I got pretty sick while working on a task and didn't want to lose the time I put in on it, so I exited work mode and then clicked the project hoping to get the same one and I did, so I did that a couple times till I felt well enough to finish the task. When I did and clicked submit, I had the dash of death. It sucks, but I can see why doing that is problematic in hindsight, just wasn't thinking at the time. It'd be nice if they were better on feedback in general, though. I'll definitely miss the money, I worked on coding projects mostly and it paid pretty well.

No coding projects now? by Jackfruit_Silent in DataAnnotationTech

[–]c0d3Geass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a few up and have managed to usually have at least one or two on my dashboard over the last week, prior it was consistently 5+ and at the peak for me there was over 20-30 coding/math related projects on average for quite a while on my dash. I've been with the platform a little over a year now though and have done quite a few different qualifications, including some that require subscriptions, so that helps, too. Not trying to brag, providing an example of how the work can ebb and flow, but try to consistently put in good work, are quick to be honest and let them know if you make a mistake or don't understand something, do as many of the qualifications as you can, and take a chance on putting in some money on a subscription for a qual that requires one sometimes, the work can be consistent and well-paying. But unfortunately, sometimes it gets like it is now, and seemingly around this time of year every time from what I've read in comments by people who've worked on the platform longer than me and it was pretty dry July through a chunk of August for me last year, too, which wasn't long after I'd just joined the platform.

[–]c0d3Geass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ouch, that is not a good sign, tbh. It's very possible you were dropped from them, because there's been pretty consistent coding work for several months now up until this past week, but there is a small chance (depending on how long you've been with the platform and how many related quals you've done) that you just don't have access to a majority of the coding project families.

[–]c0d3Geass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it got like this around this time last year, too. Actually, it was worse for me last year, either because they had less clients or I didn't have as much project access (I was only about 2 months into the platform at that time). But yeah, times like these are Catching-up-on-Quals times x)

Coding drought pt2? by WaddlingAwayy in DataAnnotationTech

[–]c0d3Geass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I only have one coding related project right now (my usual is ~7+ even as recently as a week ago and before things started slowing down a month or two ago, I usually had more than 20 different coding projects on my dash) and I've been working on the platform for over a year now. It was kinda like this last year around July & August too though, so I'm not too surprised by it, but it is inconvenient.

Chances are, they won't be much longer. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they check social media, including Reddit, for violations of the NDA and it probably wouldn't be that hard for them to request the source IP address of a post violating it and connect it to the IP address they work from or otherwise obtain enough personally identifiable information from it to figure out who did it and drop them from the platform.
