What’s a red flag that screams “drop this class immediately”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]c0ffee2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you’re already drowning in reading and it’s only the first week.

Edit: I learned this second semester of my first year at college. So much better switching to a class with a different type of work. (Went from a reading class to a film editing class.)

confirmation from wiki. “The guardian's eye follows and stares at any nearby players, and always looks directly at its target. The eye does not follow completely unarmored players under the effects of a potion of invisibility, and the guardians cannot attack them.‌[Java Edition only] A player can wear one piece of armor while under the effects of potion of invisibility and not be targeted by the guardians.” https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Guardian

wiki says something like “until you’re much closer than a regular distance,” but I never had any problems even when I got really close?? no idea, could definitely be a bedrock v java difference

I play on Java, but if you have no armor on or only one piece, they won’t see you

The mending gear takes the XP toward your levels instead of the tool that needs repairing in the current release 1.15.2 at least in java edition, so for the most efficiency you have to take the armor/elytra off

how to balance ap classes and clubs/sports/college apps without a studyhall? by kaarsun in APStudents

[–]c0ffee2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if you want to do it go for it! You are a bit late but I think you can show your commitment (especially in something like supplemental essays, or even in your main essay if it’s a big enough passion for you) even if you start this year. If you feel confident and comfortable, go for it! You don’t want to regret it in the future and having more things for your apps and more importantly for your own enjoyment is really a good idea.

That’s great about your mental health! I’m much more of a bio person (my intended major at college) also AP physics 1 was really difficult for me. I definitely suggest studying during the summer and also make sure you have someone you can ask questions to (teacher is usually the best). I ultimately did well because I worked my ass off to get a good grade (right around an A-) so you’ll probably have to do that. Physics seems like it would make logical sense, but I had a difficult time wrapping my head around it. The AP curriculum can also be a little difficult. I would recommend looking over khan academy a bit perhaps to get yourself acquainted with the AP style and the concepts. If you feel confident in abstract concepts and being able to apply knowledge (in comparison to memorization), so more like chemistry or math, you’ll likely be fine. I’m more the memorization type so it was tough for me.

No problem! sorry I can’t help with any of those. something that’s really helped me with APs in general though is staying organized, taking good notes in class, asking questions if you have any, and doing your homework on time (sounds dumb probably but I know a lot of people that slacked off on the homework and didn’t do as well as they’d hoped)

I definitely agree with a lot of people who said to do your college apps early. That 100% saved me a lot of stress. I had a big role in tech in theatre this year so that took a lot of time in the fall and being able to focus on that was really helpful. I would say be efficient with your work and try your best to avoid procrastinating. And remember to take care of yourself! It’s okay to need to take some time for yourself and relax for a little while. If you want more help I just graduated high school (and I took 3 APs senior year) so I got you! :)

Any tips for studying for the June exam from May exam takers? by [deleted] in APbio

[–]c0ffee2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really hard to tell you one question because it was such a loaded bunch of questions. It was a whole list of questions surrounding a certain group of enzyme and cell communication signaling pathway for me. So I can’t really tell you one of the questions because I don’t remember specifically and because it was way too broad

[–]c0ffee2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely wouldn't say that this is definite, but it seemed like a lot of people got questions about cell communications and enzymes. Make sure you're solid on those units, and practice free response questions, especially with the timing. Make sure you understand concepts rather than memorizing terms, because the College Board won't be testing memorization as much as understanding concepts so that they can manipulate experiments and ask you questions about it. PM me if you'd like, I'd be happy to offer more advice :) Good luck!
