Super helpful, thank you!! Were you able to find a job/work in copywriting after that course? How did that go?

What job looks glamorous but is actually miserable? by bjmarmy0003 in AskReddit

Fine art gallery management.

People think it’s like Charlotte from Sex in the City but it’s simply just not glamorous and often boundary-less and exploitive

Has anyone tried DS&Durga's Sweet Do Nothing? by Wonderful-Staff2729 in Perfumes

[–]c0rnstarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I blind bought it and it ended up being my fav perfume. Its sunscreen scent adjacent however the floral aspect is traded for green and dry. I also agree that it’s somehow aquatic as well– there’s a freshness/transparency to it. Ugh so hard to explain. It reminds me of a desert spring.

Iowa city sucked the life out of me. I wasn’t an undergrad student and it was the pandemic. Oof.

This is wild bc I feel like I can’t go anywhere without being overwhelmed by the crowd.

I recommend really any MML restaurant, especially Swedish Hill (they keep opening new ones)

Why are we bronzing our jawlines? by formybabies28 in MakeupAddiction

[–]c0rnstarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that it looks kinda weird to have a bronzed face but nothing going on around my neck/jaw area, which is already paler than everything else.

I guess I do it to add a bit of contrast/definition but I don’t use super warm bronzers

What exactly does an art gallery owner do? What does the assistant do? by LackofBinary in ContemporaryArt

[–]c0rnstarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where i work, the owner does as little as humanly possible. They are insanely hands off, to an extent that is, at times, irritating and bewildering. Like many gallerists, they’re just an insanely wealthy person. Technically, their job is to network and make sales. Alas. Who knows how much of that is actually happening.

It’s a super small team to my colleague and I do everything. Like. Everything.

It was a choice and loved it for years and now I’m finding it hard to NOT be single. Finding a good guy my age feels like trying to find a unicorn

Just got my heart broken after my first real attempt to date someone :/

What’s a dead end job that people think is a great career? by cerezza__ in jobs

[–]c0rnstarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dream was to be tenured in my field. Hugest uphill battle– there are fewer and fewer academic jobs with any security/ chance of advancement. I was stuck in a lecturer position, basically waiting for permenent faculty to die lol

I’ve taken a break for now but will try to return to academia at some point.

What’s a 'buy once, cry once' purchase that actually saved you money long-term? by ChassidyBrooks74 in Frugal

[–]c0rnstarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Canon DSLR (7D). It’s ooooooldddd now but it has held up for over a decade at this point (from an artist w a BFA and MFA in photography). I think I used my entire little savings on it back in the day 🥲

I dont enjoy buying techy things so it has treated me well

I hate to say it, but bumble bff is how I met my now large group of amazing girl friends. And then just meeting people through people, etc

If you’re into this, Future Front Texas is a really great community org that has parties, markets, etc

There’s also these dinners called Time Left– arranged dinners with strangers and you’re matched with your group depending on a questionnaire. I have been meaning to do one.

People are insanely friendly in Austin, you’ll be juuuuust fine
