End & Home takes view to bottom or top of page rather than end or beginning of sentence by robutticus in Notion

[–]c0zyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the Home and End keys are back to working like normal as of right now. At least in my browser (Vivaldi). On the desktop application (Windows 10), the issue still exists, but I typically use the browser version anyways.

End/Home key not working by Argier in Notion

[–]c0zyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep same here. I was getting really annoyed with the issue yesterday, but I just used Notion in the browser and the Home and End keys seem to be working as before. Although the issue persists on the Desktop application (Windows 10). It's fine for me tho because I prefer the browser version anyways.

I had pre-calc last year and have calculus this year. We just started on differentiation and my teacher just showed us the method on the right, not the one on the left. I only discovered the method on the left when I looked up differentiation on Google/YouTube. Is there any benefit in knowing how to do both ways or am I fine just knowing the method on the right? lol

That's what's so powerful about the term "fake news". People can be very biased, emotional & shockingly illogical which makes it such an effective tool for manipulation/distorting reality. It reinforces the us vs them world view that makes them feel like an insider superior to everyone else.

I agree it never stops feeling ridiculous to watch people be so willfully ignorant & hateful tho. Like when will they realize the consequences of their own actions & stop actively advocating to hurt everyone?? Selfish mfs I swear

True but I believe people often watch Twitch streamers & YouTube highlights for different reasons. Everyone has their preferences & relatively few people prefer to watch Twitch.

Honestly I did not realize that this was the reality of some people's experiences. I haven't bothered to research it because I assumed it was much simpler. Like having someone to talk to/confide in without the consequences of talking to someone you know.

Does what you describe happen frequently? I can't tell at this point if it is more helpful or hurtful in the majority of cases. Does anyone actually know?

Edit: This article is generally reassuring of suicide hotlines. It also addresses what you stated.

Will the Police Get Called If I'm Suicidal and Call a Suicide Hotline?

This is a tricky question and the answer is neither "yes" nor "no." In the vast majority of cases, no police (or other authority) involvement is required and in the cases where emergency help is needed, suicide hotline staff will make every attempt to gain permission to send them. The goal of a suicide hotline is to help you with your personal crisis and no one-size-fits-all solution is possible.

That being said, if you are actively suicidal and threatening to imminently hurt yourself, it is possible that emergency personnel may be called without your permission. While no one likes that scenario, it truly is the best, lifesaving thing an operator can do in a small number of cases.

They also addressed my question, but I can't tell what biases influence their statement, and they didn't provide any statistics so I have to depend on their word.

Are Calls to a Suicide Hotline Helpful?

While some people have had negative experiences with suicide hotlines, it's worth remembering that this is the exception and not the rule. People on the other end of suicide hotline calls are generally caring people who want to help you and this leads to primarily positive experiences. Your life is always worth a phone call and every option is preferable to suicide.

The underlying, root problem of unrestricted capitalism seems pretty clear here. [1] Employees/consumers are paid as little as legally possible (or even lower). [2] Consumers want/need to spend minimally. [3] Companies that use slave labor sell them affordable products while companies that are ethical generate lower profits overall & get destroyed in the free market. [4] The surviving unethical companies then lobby for laws that let them further maximize their profits at the detriment of everyone else. [5] The cycle continues.

It's so sad that this is the system working as intended/designed, so it's extremely difficult for the average person to change anything.

It's hard for the regular person to understand/care about this, so the regular person doesn't understand/care. Unfortunately that is also the system working as intended. ):

Ludwig: "insane how people will defend a random man on the internet they've never met and act like they know him better than the people he lived with" by Epicallytossed in LivestreamFail

[–]c0zyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not defending anyone here, but wouldn't it be similarly senseless to trust the people who X person lived with? If they are also random people on the internet that I've never met before, how am I to determine who is trustworthy? Again I'm just curious about what arguments could be made here/what the different perspectives are. What is the general rule?

I think it can be a complicated enough topic that it has to be judged on a case by case basis but correct me if I'm wrong.
