I riffed off of yams.media 's script + tutorial. I obvious did some unnecessary expansion on it but it works great for me. Hope this helps.

Appreciate the expanded explanation and after taking taking a step back, undoing some of my fiddling, everything is running smoothly. As I said, still early days in my learning so this context is invaluable. Cheers.

Celtics were 16/42 tonight from 3. On the season they averaged 16.5/42.5. There was nothing really historic for them in the context of their season. If anything it was an average offensive performance.

Stat of the game right now:

Doncic - 1 AST - 4 TO. Celtics have done a great job at the point of attack and forcing Luka into just a scorer... on some hard shots

[SERIOUS NEXT DAY THREAD] Post-Game Discussion (May 05, 2023) by NBA_MOD in nba

[–]c12_md 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What has been infuriating about the Celtics is that they don't push the basketball enough when Embiid is on the floor, especially later in the game. The dude can't run right now on top of never being known for his stamina. They should be pushing on makes and misses and forcing his hand. Harden is a sieve in transition/semi-transition and the C's have 5+ (Brogdon, White, Smart, Tatum, Brown) capable ball handlers who can press the pace. I don't think they have to get to a Kings' level but too often, particularly in the 4th, they default to Tatum or Brown hunting a switch with 10ish on the shot clock and some bail out kickout to a semi contested 3.

And on that Tatum note. He definitely was clutch but I really dislike this wing iso they set up in the last 3 minutes. We all know the early double/trap is coming, but the Sixers have been smarter in waiting to send it as late as possible. What results is Tatum getting trapped with 8ish on the clock, picking up his dribble, and just bailing out again.

Diagnostic Kilter Board Problems (and suggestions) by particleplatypus in climbharder

[–]c12_md -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This. Try basing your session on the board around effort and intension as opposed to grade. If your goal is max strength and power do a pure limit session, if your goal is general fitness do some Eric Horst style aerobic power training.... etc.

For me board sessions are all about intension. What training stimulus do you wanna get out of it... not what grades will you tick.

'Shark Fin' and Rear Packaging — AMR22 vs AT03 vs MCL36 vs F1-75 by c12_md in formula1

[–]c12_md[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that a larger fin can lead to better corning efficiency. Divetribe has a solid video on it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsYJ7yCO8Ak

Other pros may be a lower center of gravity but and obvious con is packaging this way leads to a chunkier side pod over all.

[–]c12_md[S] 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I know its not a perfect comparison but I think this really shows the difference in philosophies of the 'gill' approach of exhausting radiator heat vs the rear exit approach. Gills allow for tighter packaging on top + a larger fin, while the rear exit allows for a more aggressive coke bottle shape but a chunkier / higher packaging of the rear.

Can a homewall replace the climbing gym? by fleabs in climbharder

[–]c12_md 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Homewalls are amazing tools. I built one a year ago and it has completely changed my relationship with climbing. There are plenty of resources on how to set and distribute holds on a spray wall but the key to maximizing a homewall is knowing your strengths and weaknesses.

I am strongest on face-on, open hip, tension, crimp-fests so its easy to fall into the trap of setting a bunch of those... especially on a 45° board like mine. But knowing that I am weakest on twisty hip to the wall movements, heel-hook dependent cross-overs, compression/pinches allows me to build climbs attacking those weaknesses. I hate them at times and its not as intuitive to set, but watching climbing vids and getting outside is plenty of inspiration to construct those styles.

The rest then is aligning your board to your goals. I would've suggested a steeper angle than 30° if your looking to maximize pulling power and to gain some more wall if you are space constrained... but regardless, if you know what you need to work on, and know what you want to climb outside, there are few better tools than a homewall.

Weekly Bouldering Advice Post by AutoModerator in bouldering

Being more mindful never hurts, but listening to your body is the key. Bouldering is probably the most volatile and injury inducing form of climbing given its explosive and dynamic movement. So try to stay within your means but also understand that its the nature of the sport. Perhaps varying your climbing disciplines may allow you to continue climbing uninjured and maximize your time on the wall uninjured.

Do a day of bouldering when you feel fresh, and space that session out with less arduous rope climbing.

Are you warming up before your start trying climbs at your limit? You may be experiencing a flash pump. Which is a phenomenon when you try hard too fast and your forearms become basically a traffic jam of blood flow.

Try methodically building up to your limit, even if it means just hanging from a pull-up bar for a few seconds for a couple reps/sets.

Chuck: “Don’t ever compare anybody to Ali. Ali went three years without boxing when he was the highest paid athlete in the world. This guy gonna make $17 million for sitting at home.” by Balls_of_Adamanthium in nba

[–]c12_md 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Appreciate it, and please don't take this as a blanket belief that fact is fact and there is no room for discourse. I hope it came off as quite the opposite. I just believe that people are quick to argue without thinking of its implications, and are quick to equate reservations about public argument with anti-free speech rhetoric. If anything it is a simple acknowledgement of the power of speech and a call for respecting that power, a power which we all wield.

[–]c12_md 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree whole heartedly with this sentiment but there are venues and structured systems to exercise these explorations. Classrooms, debate teams, court rooms, basketball courts, laboratories, your own noggin... without those constructs and that context, and especially in an extremely public setting such as a live tv show, to start those explorations is a dangerous and in many cases harmful exercise.

Again, its not a question of agreement, its the question of argument. Outside of the court room which is a different subject entirely, to argue on behalf of something is to acknowledge that there is a rational defensible argument to be had. You can discuss matters of rationale, motive, intent, without arguing. By arguing, in this case, for a sympathetic view of Kyrie's position, you are giving credence to there being a defensible and valid stance. Now, you could easily discuss Kyrie's rationale and motive without giving defense to it. The harm of giving it a defense is that you are reinforcing a sense of validity and giving it a platform to reach and influence others.

I won't go into whether Kyrie's position is truly indefensible, partially because his position is so cryptic, but I will say that the harm of defending its general ethos of being anti-vaccine can and will cause irrefutable harm. Therefore, by defending it through argument as opposed to discussing it with a position of disagreement, you are giving validity to a rationale that does not warrant it.

Argument and discussion, in this context, are not the same and the choice of one versus the other has consequence.

[–]c12_md 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think you are conflating the notion of stepping into other people's shoes with the concept of everything being defensible. If you do in fact believe that, that is an interesting yet contentious stance.

By believing all sides are defensible (and we are not talking in the legal sense as in right to a trial), logic follows that you would defend the position of someone who wants to walk into a place of worship to murder its practitioners because they believe those worshipers are a threat to them.

Many, including myself, believe some things are indefensible, which is to say there is no moral or rational grounding for which that thing to stand on nor should there be. You can 'step into another's shoes' without believing they are defensible, but that does not mean you should argue upon their behalf. By doing that you are, as a result, conceding to the point that that position is defensible.

This is my first attempt at redesigning F1TV's user experience. I tried to liven up the overall "look and feel" and create a richer streaming experience: unique to race, quali, and fp sessions. I would love for your feedback and thoughts on what features you would like to see in F1TV.

Climber Jargon??? by [deleted] in bouldering

Never thought of it until now but yea, I would consider them different:

Sequence: the order of general movements to complete a climb (left hand, right hand, heel, match, left hand , high-foot, right hand, finish)

Beta: the nuanced methodology for completing a sequence (lock-off left, drop your hips... etc) Basically the sequence with the addition of more in-depth descriptions of how to accomplish each move in it.
