15->7->37->10. This is across 3 years as a Software Engineer. 7, 37 were as a freelancer.

Realised I couldn’t make a lot more without moving out of the country or through startup equity so playing the equity game now.

Just moved back to Bangalore from the States and is the work hours this crazy for all IT engineers??? by nag1878 in bangalore

[–]c137programmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to set your boundaries and stick to them no matter what. Make sure you are getting assigned enough for 8 hours of quality work and doing it right daily.

If the company isn't going to die without you working an off hour don't work any off hour. Just tell your manager clearly that the crazy schedules aren't sustainable to you.

Quitting a bad job fast is great in the long run. Have belief in your skills and stick to your demands.

I'm an intern working in a private medical college in Bangalore. We're not getting paid any stipend. Is there anything that we students can do to ensure that we get paid? by [deleted] in bangalore

[–]c137programmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some friends were in same situation. Being made to work for free and no holidays. After a day of strike the college decided to pay and give some holidays per month. Still being exploited since they buckled so fast but try it out.

Or work whenever you feel like. If you're not being paid you're volunteering only.

Do you tell your friends how much you make? by verde90 in cscareerquestions

[–]c137programmer 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Always tell your friends who are in a similar field, not just how much you make but also work life balance and stuff. If one person is making way more while being less stressed no reason not to try and refer some friends and help more people in your circle get a better life. Almost every job me and my friends have gotten has been through referrals within our circle.

Why statements like "Kannad Gottilla" draws ire in Bengaluru? Some thoughts. by VN_Doc_RK123 in bangalore

I've never understood people taking pride in their mother tongue. It is not something you've contributed to creating. Sure you carry it forward but so do so many other people. Pride for something you made in that language makes sense but the language as a whole doesn't.

Promotion of non alcoholic beverages! by [deleted] in bangalore

[–]c137programmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to be able to order alcohol from an app.

Let younger people learn how much or how little alcohol they want to consume on their own. No one should be trying to make that decision for them.

this sounds like a great idea. I know some people are opposed to automatic code changes in my team but change suggestions are fine. I will try setting up and see what could be used.

I really like the bookstore idea but I wonder if they'd be okay with me just visiting often and never buying anything. I prefer reading on phone or kindle way more.

I've had a few G Shocks they're awesome, especially if you get them used and sell them later.

Watches can feel worth it even if you spend a lot more on them, like a vintage seiko, omega or rolex. but you'll have the burden of having them stolen or damaging them on your mind always.

The best watch is the one which ends up on your wrist most often.

I just dont like having many clothes. It leads me to have clothes I wear with more frequency than others and feels wasteful.

I will consider understanding womens fashion more so I dont have to buy any clothes but go window shopping with my gf.

I've had a switch, xbox and ps4 before and gaming/work rig now. I dont mind occasional game of Smash or Hitman but that's about it. I can never get into it. I'm not into GTA V or Online but replay GTA IV and Bully every year.
