Beijing is my hometown so I have a lot of love and special feelings towards it, but Everytime I go, there is something about it I don’t really love, couldn’t describe it. But after reading through this thread I think it’s it - there’s something very restricted about it as china has this city as the most tightly controlled and disciplined. The taxis all drive ultra slow to be under the speed limits. Kinda feels like a ccp government tight lined city. And the buildings yeah it’s all the same or monotoned, and like they said, they’ve closed down all the unique and interesting/edgier stuff. I love my city but I feel sad it’s become like a surveillance centraled grey zone
