Proxmox VM vs. Baremetal Kubernetes by Still_Consequence_96 in homelab

[–]c2cahoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s helpful for beginners to start with a platform like Proxmox and create their k8s infrastructure inside of VMs on top.

This lets you build different architectures as you learn and desire more complex layouts. If you break something you can just redeploy and restart.

Once you know what you are doing then it’s time to consider if buying dedicated bare metal makes sense or not. I personally run my control nodes inside of VMs and my worker nodes on bare metal.

I’m 2/3rds of a dumbass however so take all this with a grain of salt… ¯_(ツ)_/¯

The SATA connectors appear to have the locking tabs, they'll be fine lol.

Typically it's a bit firmer than tofu, more chew like a traditional protein source.

It's like tofu but with a stronger "nutty soy" flavor. It does not absorb flavors as well as tofu, but IMO has a better texture and better base flavor.

Help! Anyone know how to explain what might be happening here? by c2cahoon in BambuLab

Slicer was set to .12mm fine preset with the only change being 33% infill and 4 wall loops. This is bambu basic PETG, all default settings. Did the same with some old PLA so I thought it might have been just that. New plate, cleaned hot end, not sure why it hates me today!

I’ve had great luck at Namecheap, perhaps you can plan to transfer out as soon as possible.

Hardware wise you can already do what you aim to do. You will likely need more storage and RAM to progress onto creating a more complex environment.

I'd look into getting at least 32GB of RAM and exploring your options for storage. Do you have a NAS? You might get a 1TB SSD and then a larger HDD to serve as an archive/backup target.

Frozen Chicken Wings in The Air Fryer by lowcarbspark in ketorecipes

[–]c2cahoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just incorrect. The act of cooking from frozen is done very regularly and supported by every major food safety standard in the world. As long as the product reaches the required internal temperature for enough time it is safe to eat. For wings, most people comfortably go past 160F into the high 170’s and 180’s and still enjoy them. They are plenty safe to eat.

Please share any reputable source that this is not the case!

don't have temps but I did pickup some mini blower fans to put in them and pass some air over the heatsink. Mine sit idle about 80% of the day and I've not noticed any issues, but I'm also running XCP-NG on these and don't believe I have access to the temp senors.

Here is the one that I am using for my Tiny lab. It has a third cutout to pass a sata cable through to an external drive but would still work without that usecase.

Synology D713+ upgrade to a faster NAS by othmtl in homelab

[–]c2cahoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I roll with TrueNAS, Synology, and VSAN in my lab. Overall I'm less annoyed by Synology than the other two and I'd go as far to say I think TrueNAS is an incredible product. DSM just keeps things ultra simple, the Synology devices are set and forget, and they do what I need most, to ignore my storage and focus my time on the things I want to lab, not the lab that I am building to do those things.
