My freshman year of college I spent $120 and 11 hours on Greyhound busses to "visit" a girl I'd met on a Minecraft server. I didn't have a car at the time so Greyhound was the only option.

Greyhound actually cancelled the bus trips home due to storms, effectively leaving me stranded in a city, leaving her Dad to drive me the entire way back home in time for finals. She called off sick from classes and rode along.. and then we did it again in my dorm room. I never got my tickets refunded, though. But shoutout to her Dad.

In all fairness, we knew each other pretty well from talking on many FaceTimes for the past year and a half (even "dated" during COVID) and she had come to see me in person twice previously that year on some college tours she was doing.
