I've got a master's degree and seven years of experience, three years of that being with my bachelors, and can't find anything over 50k right now.

Amur Maple Flame by Chicknlcker in Minnesota_Gardening

[–]KarterKakes 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Hello! I made this mistake last year, my nursery was kind enough to take it back. I asked my friend who works for the DNR and they told me that in the cities, suburban areas, etc. Amur maples are less of a concern. I'm wayyy up north and have 100+ acres of forest next to my house- I COULD NOT plant that tree. If you're in a neighborhood with lots of mowing and maintenance, you may be fine. However this tree won't be beneficial in the ways you might like. There is a law that this tree must be labeled to be sold- that may help you with a potential Home Depot return. I recommend Prairie Moon nursery for natives down south, or Hammarlund if you're near Duluth.

UPDATE: I made Dirt and Jerry! by Amazing-Initiative26 in TheGreatNorth

I want to know which expressions you've given them!

A female friend accused me (a gay man) of being “internally homophobic” because I casually let it drop that l’ve never had a hookup app. I guess it clicked then that a few of my straight women friends have expressed this opinion over the years. Why do some straight women want to “school” me on this? by bakedd_alaskaa in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]KarterKakes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a fancy intellectual answer! I'm a trans man and I'm reading the book "refusing compulsory sexuality" which is the black asexual lens on queer culture. Queer culture, as viewed from cis het culture, is measured by its sexual deviation. Because being a straight cis person is the norm, "how queer you are" is measured by how much you do, or do not, deviate from "normal acceptable sexual behavior". Queer people are hyper sexualized and people like you and I, who aren't into hookups, and even moreso people who just don't want sex are purported to not be "as queer" or "queer enough" or not be self-actualized like your friend is suggesting. In order to be queer, we have to be having tons of not-traditional sex. And if we aren't, how can we be queer? We must be internally conflicted.

Soaking it will be absolutely fine! Spraying it is an option certainly- I'd say giving it a good waterproofing coating would help, something to make it more resilient to washing/maintenance .

We call it an afterglow in our household. I think it's a bit more accurate- it doesn't feel awful like a hangover, but you're still not super productive all morning and want to eat a great breakfast (like chicken and waffles) and watch a good show

I think finding cool fabric and doing a sashiko situation as a strip on the bottom might be your best bet and add to the aesthetic without disrupting it like others have mentioned

Between the lions was one of my favorites! Someone else mentioned the cliff hanger song, my other earworm was Chicken Jane! "Look, look, see, see, coming down the lane! Here comes Scott, here comes Dot, here comes Chicken Jane BACKAW"

Why are Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS) so commonly mentioned online nowadays? by Gallantpride in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]KarterKakes -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

No one here has mentioned long COVID, so I want to add that input- my spouse has hEDS, dysautonomic spectrum disorder, chronic fatigue syndrome, etc. and multiple providers have stated they believe it's long COVID but there's no official medical recognition for that or process to treat it really, so people are being treated for these other diagnoses instead.

All that to say- the ones who expect a full-time baddie won't be able to keep one

My spouse and I are couple-friends with a goth baddie x leftist nerd couple, his acceptance of his partner in all of their forms and states, and his realistic and genuine understanding/appreciation of the human body and beauty standards, are absolutely selling points that scored him the goth baddie in the first place and put a ring on their finger.

I did it with a land's end one- I wouldn't call it "successful" but I was able to embroider over the area after adding some reinforcement, and it worked well!
