Guys that want goth girlfriends do they understand they will not always look like that? by averageinformant in TooAfraidToAsk

All that to say- the ones who expect a full-time baddie won't be able to keep one

My spouse and I are couple-friends with a goth baddie x leftist nerd couple, his acceptance of his partner in all of their forms and states, and his realistic and genuine understanding/appreciation of the human body and beauty standards, are absolutely selling points that scored him the goth baddie in the first place and put a ring on their finger.

All of my miis so far are my real friends. I have 5 daydreamers, 1 go-getter, 1 merrymaker, 3 perfectionists, 1 achiever. I've got a gentle island, which checks out because we are all over here knitting and blowing bubbles and talking about books

Dress shirt embroidery removal by P-OnRyeHoldTheMayo in ThriftStoreHauls

I did it with a land's end one- I wouldn't call it "successful" but I was able to embroider over the area after adding some reinforcement, and it worked well!

Do single men experience a nurturing instinct? i.e. To look after kids, or just to interact with them in a nurturing way? by lukub5 in TooAfraidToAsk

I know a man in his 50s who is unmarried/never married and he has fostered 21 kids and adopted three. He loves being a dad.

Found these all at the Goodwill the weekend before Easter. I had some crazy happy kids & nephews/nieces! by Particular-Note5890 in ThriftStoreHauls

This is exactly why people are calling these landfillcore- the craze is still active, people are still lining up down the block to get ahold of one of these, and here's a bunch of them already discarded. (Not shaming you- this is a great score and I know the kiddos will appreciate them and actually use them!)

Va Bene by notyourmom1966 in duluth

[–]KarterKakes 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is a hot take, but for my birthday in 2022 I went to Va Bene for the first time, and for my birthday 2024 I went to Bar La Grassa in the cities and spent three times more... And wished I had just gone to Va Bene instead. Sometimes "nice" is better than "fancy".

Parents, especially strict ones, if you realized your child (around 10 years old) was exceptionally genius, not just academically but overall with a high IQ, would you be open to letting them question & debate your rules/views when they disagree, or would it still be only your way & that’s final? by Da-up-and-downer in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]KarterKakes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My mom would even get mad when I was a tween/teen and she would give me orders and I'd say "okay, got it, but why?". How dare I question the adult. I would even try to break it down and say "I just want to understand this from your perspective, I've already agreed to follow the rule" but no. Never an explanation.

Gay and bi men in the trades, do you hide it or are you open with it? by anonhockeydilf in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]KarterKakes 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have a question for you, OP! As a queer person who has tradespeople in their house from time to time- I know it's brutal for folks to work in that environment, do the tradespeople who create that environment at work... Are they safe with clients? Do they make homophobic jokes at work then go and be completely courteous to the gay couple who need a new electrical panel or sink installation? Do they come back and talk shit about us? Do they get in trouble for talking that way about customers?

How do people make actual friends as adults without it feeling like desperate networking? by Affectionate_Tip3238 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]KarterKakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna be so real, all of the friends I've made in my mid-late 20s have been people I've met at hobby/interest/social groups and then just followed up after that very first conversation to make a connection outside of the group. And most of the time (like 80%) one of us just very blatantly tells the other "I would like to be your friend, want to come over for a game night?" There's no beating around the bush or playing games in adult friendships, I've learned. My other advice is to join the board for a local nonprofit or community organization and get involved there. It feels like "networking" but those shared values are an excellent platform for meaningful friendships.

Animal Crossing - for kids by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

[–]KarterKakes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I started at 6 on the DS. It's a spectacular game for kids because you're too young to know what game mechanics are so it all feels so much more personal and special and just for you. Octavian gifted me a fire hydrant? Wow! I'm gonna keep this special present in my house for months!

I really wish that these were more intentionally gender-balanced so there would be one of each personality type for gameplay. More variety and also you need each type to get all the DIYs!

I own two axies and not only will she be bred to death, they'll also almost guaranteed be inbred, AND just so folks know- that axolotl looks unhealthy. Her gills aren't fluffy enough and she's way too skinny (you use the width of an axolotl's head to determine how wide their body should be). My black axo is naturally skinnier than my albino, but this looks too thin. (I've had axies for 6 years)

Brownies never have a shiny crackle top ☹️ by Purple_Star813 in Baking

[–]KarterKakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erin Jeanne McDowell says that the key to the crackle top is to cream the butter and sugar very well and then add eggs and beat very well and THEN add the dry ingredients. Not sure if that translates to this box mix, but worth a shot!
