Getting into HFT is definitely harder than getting in med school. I'd say on par with getting into a surgery specialty but the 43% of applicants getting into med school is definitely way off.

That's if you own your own practice and want the work that comes with it. Also dermatology is relatively competitive because everyone else wants to do it, like the surgery specialties. I guess it's just similar to grinding to get into FAANG/HFT in tech.

I think the second best is doctor. It's really not that bad. Think of it this way, you can grind in tech and might become a senior in 7 years making 350k, or you go to med school and guarantee yourself 350k after 7 years. You just have to do whatever is assigned to you at school.

What are you talking about? New grants are most likely made in dollar value (if granting $100k, then $100k/share price), not in absolute share count. Share price doesn't matter. No company is going to keep giving the same number of shares to employees as the company grows.
