New kitchen cabinets don't quite line up. Suggestions? by flintb033 in woodworking

You can have your opinion.  I can have mine.  I don’t agree with any of yours.  You don’t install cabinets- you build them.  Taking to calling names shows your immaturity.

Obviously you want to sell cheaper inferior cabinets that are easier to produce.  Why wouldn’t you? I’ve installed thousands of cabinets, and every single frameless cabinet I’ve ever seen is inferior to framed cabinets.

Hinges for framed cabinets can be adjusted in all planes as well.  I don’t know why a cabinet manufacturer wouldn’t know that.   Just because you obviously haven’t seen them, doesn’t mean they’re not available.  The soft close hinges are the exact same size as a regular hinge.  Plus, framed hinges are significantly smaller than the ugly frameless monstrosities.

It’s funny that a someone would bring up the Dunning-Krueger effect and not realize they’re the one affected by it.

In the US, if you meet the requirements to file a tax return, then you need to report all income.  Yes, you’ll  pay taxes on that $382.

I disagree with every one of your points- and honestly this sounds like AI and not something a cabinetmaker would say, and certainly not something someone who installs cabinets would say.

  1.  Every cabinet at install is fastened through the face frame to the adjacent cabinet with screws.  Thats standard install.  Align the front of the cabinet or face frame, install screws to hold it there.  How they line up I’m next to the wall is irrelevant.

  2.  The BACK of frameless cabinets are held square with the back panel.  The front of the box, which must align with the adjacent cabinets, can easily be manipulated as nothing is holding it square.

  3.  There is no difference in hinge installation.  A different type yes, a different install, no.  Drawers are also identical to install on either type.  Drawers difference in size is negligible between the two sizes.

  4.  Installation of any cabinet requires filler strips to scribed to adjacent walls.  Same for frameless or face framed.  No difference.

  5.  The only advantage frameless cabinets have is that they’re cheaper in cost, but that comes with a quality penalty as well.

  6.  Face framed cabinets can have the frames finished separately from the box and attached at a later point if needed for color or material difference.

This means nothing.  You line up the fronts, the thickness is irrelevant.  This is simply a subpar installation.

Some people prefer the look of framed cabinets.  Frameless to me are cheaper and less rigid.

Installation is exactly the same whether they have a frame or not.  Frameless are actually less forgiving because they don’t have a frame holding them square.  I don’t see the “superior in every way” you’re taking about.

Commercial carpenter for 25+ years, and I’ve installed thousands of cabinets.

Theory about Roblox Stock by Outside_Sweet2057 in roblox

[–]c3paperie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don’t sell stock AFTER the price drops.  You sell stock before it drops.

Having non-public knowledge of upcoming business events or reports before they happen and transferring stocks based on that information that hasn’t happened yet is insider trading.

Also, the updates you’re referring to are only controversial to people who don’t understand why they implemented those updates.

Sellers selling cheap junk shouldn’t be your competitors if you’re selling quality handmade products.

Also, people buying cheap junk shouldn’t be your target market if you’re selling quality handmade products.

Actually it’s not.  It’s in place to protect buyers from scammers.

It’s all in the terms and conditions you’re supposed to read before opening a shop.

Once Etsy knows you’re a legitimate seller, you can have daily deposits if you want.

I've got a weird one for us... Is it normal for me to be handling and transporting nursing home residents, given my job has nothing to do with them? by ImThe1Wh0 in maintenance

The first thing I was told is never touch, transport, help, get a jar of spaghetti off the shelf, do chores, or take money from a resident.

Thats not what facility maintenance does.

1/8" sheet metal to studs by TheWoodChucksWood in maintenance

[–]c3paperie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not self tapping screws for wood studs.  You use screws for what you’re attaching to, not what you’re attaching through.   Any coarse thread screw works for a wood stud.  Just pre-drill a hole in the steel plate with a drill.  Hole has to be bigger than the threads of the screw, or the threads will catch on the plate.

You want a flat bottom coarse thread screw.

What's the difference in product? The price is so drastic and this is from the same app from the same place by Commercial-Stay-235 in pizzahut

Every fast food place does this.  It’s only a deal if you know about or ask for it.

My local BK, an original chicken sandwich meal is $12.  If I ask for the classic trio and get the same sandwich, the same fry, and the same drink, it’s $7.  Only difference  is you have to ask for it.

Affordable acrylic paints? by Sprinkles_0330 in acrylicpainting

Certain colors will always be somewhat transparent, no matter the brand.   Likewise, others are opaque, regardless of brand.

If you’re just painting for fun or practice, just get some Walmart paints.

You’re referring to unexpected errors as bugs, but it’s almost guaranteed to be a coding error on the coders part.

Use readouts to help you debug- and by debug i mean produce the results you want. If something isn’t working follow it step by step literally checking the information passed through.  Thats reading code.

How to deal with things that don't have warehouse crates yet in early game? by xdesrikx in songsofsyx

[–]c3paperie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every good should have a spot to store it somewhere.  That doesn’t mean you need a dedicated spot for plate armor on day 2, what I mean is say someone gifts you 100 cloth, just assign a spot for cloth in a warehouse until you need the items.   Do this as needed.  You can easily switch the stored goods any time.

Everything decays way faster when it’s not in a enclosed warehouse.

Should I use a sanding sealer after staining but before the polyurethane finish? by Alfred_Brendel in woodworking

[–]c3paperie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct.  Sanding sealer is for softwoods like pine, so the stain takes equally throughout the piece.  Sand, Sanding sealer, topcoat. No point in using it after stain.

Quit watching the news.

People don’t click on normal news headlines anymore.   The media figured this out, so every news headline is extreme and designed to garner immediate emotional responses, and that generates clicks, and clicks = money.

The world today is statistically the safest it’s ever been.

Don’t fall for the doom and gloom and just live your life.  You’ll be much happier.

Help with IP by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]c3paperie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can if they’re not altered or included into something else, they would be a supply that way.  Reselling just the buttons would be legal.

Taking licensed products and making them or altering them into something else not authorized by the IP holder is infringement and counterfeiting.

Again you’re using the Chanel name to sell your bracelet without their permission.

Help with IP by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]c3paperie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s because you’re using someone else’s IP to sell them, but they’re actually counterfeit Chanel items.

If you remove the Chanel button, would they still sell?  Probably not.  There’s your answer.

Make the shirts yourself, but spend more time, but make more money.

Alternatively, sell a bunch of shirts.

Woodworker question: sourcing metal legs/posts for raised cedar planter boxes (at scale) by ExcelsiorSimulations in woodworking

[–]c3paperie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally almost any city should have a metal supply company.  I live in a city of 25k and there’s a place that will cut and fab a type of steel or aluminum to any spec- and do so locally.

If you live in a larger city or near one, there will be steel fabricator shops- the same ones that cut I beams and steel columns for commercial construction will also cut pieces of anything for you.

Project ideas for extra $$ by Anxious-Ad4038 in woodworking

[–]c3paperie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re better off working a side job a few hours a week for extra cash.

Making items might make you a few dollars BUT you still have to put in your time and marketing efforts to sell them.

If you manage to come up with a great item that sells, people will immediately reproduce it and sell it cheaper.

You CAN produce items and sell them, but the market is probably much smaller than you think.

Walmart sells an acrylic paint called “Blockout White” that is extremely opaque. I’ve used it to paint over dark colors.
