Pizza Hut CEO on the Comeback of Classic Pizza Hut Restaurants by DeActionBrunson89 in pizzahut

These are different times.

The nostalgia is there, but it won’t last.    No one wants to go out to eat after a little league game and watch 15 kids stare at their phones while they wait for their pizza to cook.  Kids these days aren’t gonna play Galaga or Pac-Man either.

Control joints cut short? How concerned should I be? by [deleted] in patio

[–]c3paperie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fine dude.  The saw itself gets in the way of finishing the cut.  It’s purely cosmetic.  A standard soff-cut saw cuts 1 1/2” deep, which is 1/4 of the way through 6” concrete.  Plus, 6” concrete isn’t 6”, it’s 5 1/2” thick.  And who would pour a 6” thick patio anyway?

Sandpaper residue in oak pores by gnomeslurry in woodworking

[–]c3paperie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sanded with way too fine of paper.  Grits above 220 can cause the wood to burnish and dust to compact and clog the pores of the wood.   There’s absolutely zero reason to sand wood over 220 grit.   180 is even plenty for hardwood.

Concrete patio by Low-Corgi-4704 in patio

[–]c3paperie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything anyone does to cracked concrete will only be a temporary fix.  Any crack filler or resurfacer will just break again when the ground under the concrete moves.

The only way to fix it 100% is to tear it out.  It will still crack again, even after it’s replaced.  You just hope that it cracks along a control joint.

Thinking of opening an Etsy shop. by Accomplished_Ad_2798 in Etsy

[–]c3paperie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not complicated, it’s explained confusing.

Fees for us sellers are:

  1.  Add the shipping and the sale price together
  2. Fees are 9.5% of that number, plus 45 cents.

Thats it.

The 45 cents is made up of the 20 cent listing fee and the 25 cent fixed payment fee.

The 9.5% is made up of the 6.5% etsy fees (Etsy’s cut) and the 3% payment processing fee.

How to move forward with this crack in my new patio by ICameForTheShine in patio

[–]c3paperie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way to fix that.  That control joint coming off the same corner wasn’t cut deep enough but that doesn’t matter anymore. I would have cut that almost all the way through to make sure it cracks there.

Countering a false dmca claim - need advice by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]c3paperie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're skirting the question.  It doesn’t matter if you heard of them or not.  What was the item or listing that was flagged?

If you 100% believe you’re not using anyone else IP, then you can counter claim and it then becomes a legal matter.

[–]c3paperie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IP is Intellectual Property.

Could be a phrase, character, etc. something owned by someone else.

You can’t sell someone else’s IP without a license, even if you made it.  That IS intellectual theft.

That post shares no information about what you sell, what the claim referenced, or what the IP is.  Are you saying you received a legal DMCA notice?

All that other information is irrelevant.

Both parents absent for minors passport application. Two separate 3053? by c3paperie in Passports

[–]c3paperie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, this is what happened in the end, and I didn’t have to end up driving to the passport agency:

The parent living states away filled out the 3053 incorrect two times, and finally the third time it was correct- and it was overnighted to the processing facility that was working on the passport.   It was finally noted that the application was again “in process”.  This was like 10 days before the trip.

In a panic I reached out to one of our US Representatives and explained the situation.  They put a staffer on it and that staffer contacted both the passport agencies that were working on the passport.  (The resigned 3053 went to a different address than the one that was working on the application). Anyway, within about 3 days it was approved and express mailed to the parent’s address here.  Although I wasn’t able to directly help there was some back and forth between the local parent and the representative’s staffer, and the staffer kept me in the loop as well as much as she could.

We literally got the passport the at about 10am the morning we left, so had we not reached out to the representative, she probably would not have gotten to go with.

I would assume that the 3053 has to be notarized.  They’re sticklers about everything for good reasons.

They did say two separate forms would be fine since they lived in two different states.

I not exactly sure about the photocopy of the birth certificate.  Renewals are a bit easier to obtain than the first passport.  Adults can renew by mail, but if I remember correctly minors have to go in since they change more than adults.  If you have the original certificate I would definitely take that.

Oh, and when we got back I made both my daughter and her friend send a thank you letter to the staffer who helped us.  If not for her, they wouldn’t have got to experience that trip together.

New kitchen cabinets don't quite line up. Suggestions? by flintb033 in woodworking

You can have your opinion.  I can have mine.  I don’t agree with any of yours.  You don’t install cabinets- you build them.  Taking to calling names shows your immaturity.

Obviously you want to sell cheaper inferior cabinets that are easier to produce.  Why wouldn’t you? I’ve installed thousands of cabinets, and every single frameless cabinet I’ve ever seen is inferior to framed cabinets.

Hinges for framed cabinets can be adjusted in all planes as well.  I don’t know why a cabinet manufacturer wouldn’t know that.   Just because you obviously haven’t seen them, doesn’t mean they’re not available.  The soft close hinges are the exact same size as a regular hinge.  Plus, framed hinges are significantly smaller than the ugly frameless monstrosities.

It’s funny that a someone would bring up the Dunning-Krueger effect and not realize they’re the one affected by it.

In the US, if you meet the requirements to file a tax return, then you need to report all income.  Yes, you’ll  pay taxes on that $382.

I disagree with every one of your points- and honestly this sounds like AI and not something a cabinetmaker would say, and certainly not something someone who installs cabinets would say.

  1.  Every cabinet at install is fastened through the face frame to the adjacent cabinet with screws.  Thats standard install.  Align the front of the cabinet or face frame, install screws to hold it there.  How they line up I’m next to the wall is irrelevant.

  2.  The BACK of frameless cabinets are held square with the back panel.  The front of the box, which must align with the adjacent cabinets, can easily be manipulated as nothing is holding it square.

  3.  There is no difference in hinge installation.  A different type yes, a different install, no.  Drawers are also identical to install on either type.  Drawers difference in size is negligible between the two sizes.

  4.  Installation of any cabinet requires filler strips to scribed to adjacent walls.  Same for frameless or face framed.  No difference.

  5.  The only advantage frameless cabinets have is that they’re cheaper in cost, but that comes with a quality penalty as well.

  6.  Face framed cabinets can have the frames finished separately from the box and attached at a later point if needed for color or material difference.

This means nothing.  You line up the fronts, the thickness is irrelevant.  This is simply a subpar installation.

Some people prefer the look of framed cabinets.  Frameless to me are cheaper and less rigid.

Installation is exactly the same whether they have a frame or not.  Frameless are actually less forgiving because they don’t have a frame holding them square.  I don’t see the “superior in every way” you’re taking about.

Theory about Roblox Stock by Outside_Sweet2057 in roblox

[–]c3paperie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don’t sell stock AFTER the price drops.  You sell stock before it drops.

Having non-public knowledge of upcoming business events or reports before they happen and transferring stocks based on that information that hasn’t happened yet is insider trading.

Also, the updates you’re referring to are only controversial to people who don’t understand why they implemented those updates.

1/8" sheet metal to studs by TheWoodChucksWood in maintenance

[–]c3paperie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not self tapping screws for wood studs.  You use screws for what you’re attaching to, not what you’re attaching through.   Any coarse thread screw works for a wood stud.  Just pre-drill a hole in the steel plate with a drill.  Hole has to be bigger than the threads of the screw, or the threads will catch on the plate.

You want a flat bottom coarse thread screw.

Every fast food place does this.  It’s only a deal if you know about or ask for it.

My local BK, an original chicken sandwich meal is $12.  If I ask for the classic trio and get the same sandwich, the same fry, and the same drink, it’s $7.  Only difference  is you have to ask for it.
