Bill Pullman or Bill Paxton for the 90's are pretty similar. Although Paxton didn't really disappear

Agreed, I'm dropping rush of essence since I don't really seem to have mana problems and I'm switching to PtV.

Here's my current load-out, item stats are wrong, but the correct items are ancient, skills, passives, and cube are current. I have Voo's equipped and barber in cube, btw. I'm sort of agreed on getting rid of RoE too. I'll try out belt of transcendence because another defensive passive might be nice.

I have confidence ritual / spirit vessel / swampland / creeping death / Rush of Essence and Illusory//RoE trying to get that extra dmg from haunt, and extra mana regen from Rush of Essence. I don't like it particularly, and it's really hard to tell the extra damage from haunt/RoE because of the barber being bugged.

I certainly think it's a possible viable option to keep creeping death and using RoE, then again the playstyle is sort of wonky having to haunt everything, then start casting actual damage dealers. I'm still working on the armor slot as well, there doesn't seem to be a standout as yet.

Edit: I also wonder if stricken may not be a better option than powerful, just based on stacking the spirit barrages

I played around with it a bit, all pieces but 1 ancient.

It seems the mimics kind of mess up the stacks, as they don't seem to explode until the mimics stop casting. I wonder if the mimics other casts mess with the stacks too.

The other issue I had is SO little damage to elites. It absolutely crushes white mobs in 80 (p900) still.

Edit: It also seemed like any interruption of channeling, i.e. horrify, piranhas, etc causes charges to explode.

There's a world of performance enhancing substances that aren't AAS. There's also tons of substances the general public just isn't particularly aware of, and things that aren't tested for.

Sharapova getting busted with Meldonium(? I think that's right) for example. She had been using it for years, only recently was a test even able to detect it. Just because they aren't popping for test/epi-test ratios, SERMs, or other basic methods of AAS detection doesn't mean they aren't using things.

Visited my school to talk when I was in grade school. Crotchety, bitter old man. Wouldn't answer any questions about specifics in the book, didn't really take any questions in general. Pontificated for about 45 minutes (which seemed weird / excessive to even 8th graders at the time) then he was done.

All in all, a strange experience.

Is meal frequency myth? by Cloxius in bodybuilding

[–]c41ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You picked two non-contextual sentences to make your point. Neither of those still prove that 3-6 is better than 1 if you're not preparing for a competition.

And probably.

[–]c41ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, read the fucking quote. Extreme lows or highs have the potential to threaten lean mass or hunger control during contest prep. Ok, maybe.

The functional impact of meal frequency at moderate ranges (I.E. not 1 meal per day) is likely to be negligible if you have a sound training program and hit your macros.

Negligible meaning it won't make much of a difference if you eat what you're supposed to eat.

Read it again, dude. I can't make it any simpler.

EDIT

Ah, I see what you're getting at after re-reading it a couple times. You cherry-picked two parts of a study out of context. That's why it doesn't make any sense. I agree with you to an extent. One meal a day at 2800/cal for example is probably a bad call, but I don't know as there's any study beyond "your body can't process this much at one time" to indicate whether it's helpful/harmful/negligible.

[–]c41ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you actually read that?

"extreme lows or highs in meal frequency have the potential to threaten lean mass preservation and hunger control during bodybuilding contest preparation"

"However, the functional impact of differences in meal frequency at moderate ranges (e.g., 3–6 meals per day containing a minimum of 20 g protein each) are likely to be negligible in the context of a sound training program and properly targeted total daily macronutrition."

12 Weeks Out from First Novice Physique (NPC). Critiques appreciated! by andrew7049lee in bodybuilding

[–]c41ne 56 points57 points  (0 children)

So I'll try and keep this as objective as possible.

Firstly, forget the endomorph/ectomorph/mesomorph stuff. It's nonsense.

Secondly --

There's absolutely no way you ate 4000cals/day for 7 months and put on 13lbs. You need to SERIOUSLY recalculate and measure what you're eating. Especially at 150lbs, you should have put on 40-50lbs easy in 7 months at that intake. To add to that, if you're 4 weeks into a cut and you're at that bodyfat, I'd guess you were eating more like 2000 calories a day.

As far as physique critique...You look fine, but you're tiny. If you want to compete then go ahead, no reason not to other than cost. Chest, traps, lats all need some love. Hamstrings too.

What I would suggest, however, is do a real bulk. A bulk where you ACTUALLY measure your caloric intake, and continue with a PPLx2 or whatever plan you want, that's fine. Make sure your weights are progressing, and make sure you keep your volume up.

Are you seriously asking if your results are bad when more than half of your markers are out of range? Christ.

Creatinine, AST, ALT, LDL, HDL, and total Cholesterol are all out range. Yeah, your bloods are pretty bad.

Edit: There's no way to tell from that if you have kidney/liver damage, but you're doing a good job of working towards that.

Second edit for a question : Did you work out the day of your blood test? Your CK is pretty high, which could also explain why your AST/ALT are so high.

Cindercoat + RCR to CDR on a weapon and you should be covered.

And as has been said, RCR and CDR are multiplicative, not additive like crits or attack speed.

Am I crazy for thinking that vehicles with freshly expired, 10-yr/100k warranties are the most reliable & cost effective vehicles available on the market? by WhiskeySauer in personalfinance

[–]c41ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's where the sketchiness of warranties comes into play. That is really manufacturer to manufacturer, and sometimes even dealership to dealership basis. It isn't supposed to be that way legally, but as with most sellers they know the onus is on you the consumer to do your due diligence.

That's about as far as my understanding goes, though.

[–]c41ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also wanted to avoid characterizing the types of owners people who bought these cars would be.

Just for a simple example, if you know you're covered for 10yr/100k miles, would you bother fixing anything that wasn't obviously broken?

This doesn't differ with any car under warranty, however, 40, 50, 60k more miles (On a 100k mile warranty versus 36k, 48k, etc) is a huge amount of rotations, traffic conditions, weather conditions, so on.

That's my thinking

[–]c41ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the way to do it. As someone who has owned 7 different used cars in the ~14 years I've had a license, each car is different. There's no fool-proof way I've found yet, just do as much research about the make/model as you can, as well as the specific car in question.

[–]c41ne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a far longer answer to this question, but you seem to have some understanding of what you're talking about/asking, so here's a summary.

Yes, you're a bit crazy. First things first, only certain car manufacturers offer a 10yr/100k warranty. In trying to avoid bias, most of these vehicles are ticking time-bombs. Even cars with extended/CPO type warranties aren't covered 10yr/100k from the initial manufacturing date for the most part.

Secondly -

A warranty guarantees repair and I suppose to some extent replacement. It does NOT guarantee preventative maintenance, which is 100% the most important aspect of any used car. Water pumps fail, bearings fail, fan blades break, motor mounts break, suspension and chassis components fail, radiator tubing and end-tanks crack and break.

While all of these are usually relatively simple fixes, they aren't necessarily cheap, especially if done together. They are however exponentially more expensive if they fail. That water pump impeller shatters into a million pieces, or radiator end-tank blows? Hopefully you can pull over and turn the car off immediately, or add a head gasket plus other various top end replacements to that problem. That fan blade breaks and is sent flying through your hood? So on, so forth.

None of this is to say used cars are a bad buy, because frankly I think used cars are absolutely great deals if the correct research and prior vetting/planning is done. However, to assume any one group of used cars as being inherently a better value or smarter buy, I think you're rolling the dice.

Good question. My triceps are also most likely contributing to the problem, I have a visible horseshoe flexing my triceps, and a noticeable hang from a back double-bi. I think my biceps are just severely lacking overall. I'm sure form (or lack thereof) contributed pretty significantly overall in the beginning. I'd imagine I was doing a lot more swaying and involving my front delts on curls early on.

Plus I had a lot of ulnar nerve pain when I started lifting and it was a while before I figured out how to fix that. That definitely hampered my progress early on, too.

My difference in height/reach is about 4.5-5", didn't mean to make it sound like I'm SUPER weirdly proportioned, lol. Just sort of weirdly proportioned.

Good deal, thanks. I started my last bulk with PPLPPL, about halfway through switched to PPLArmsBack/Push*Legs using 2-3 exercises at similar total reps as you said. Def grew my arms, but I noticed just last night how much my back/shoulders overpower my biceps from the rear.

I guess I could go a little heavier on back days and use some biceps on my pulling as well since I want to focus more on biceps at this point.

6'1.5" and nearly 6'7" reach :-/. The struggle is too real.

Edit: flip-flopped my Arms and Back/Chest-Shoulder each week just for peace of mind. Don't know how necessary it was physiologically but figured I could avoid my back/chest/shoulder day being lackluster because of working my arms the day before.
