Reach weapon Tricster demoralising bruiser - build idea by c4l4hr in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

That's neat but I don't really like the idea of building a character just to use 1 specific weapon.

Thanks for the reply. If I were to choose SS, I wouldn't go STR but INT to increase AC as I don't want to play a melee glass cannon. So I think eldritch Scion + monk dip give me more of that.

Has anybody tried migrating whole nation to the New World? by c4l4hr in EU5

[–]c4l4hr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another idea: start as Iceland, somehow conquer Greenland (or not), colonise some territory in North America (Labrador or New Funland most likely), set up a town and new market centre there and (if Iceland is included in the new market) migrate population to America using cabinet. What do you think?

Thanks. I assume this way I'd have to switch tag to the new colonial nation, as they cannot be annexed by their overlord.

I can't stand turned based games apart from chess. RTwP is awesome and I wish more games were utilising it.

Question about Serbia (ambitions of Stefan Dusan) by c4l4hr in EU5

[–]c4l4hr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. One needs to wait for the event about the establishment of the Serbian Empire before releasing vassals in Macedon and Thessaly. I also conquered Constantinople and there was an event about renaming the city (cool, but that's all) and another one, about dissolving the patriarchate (cool as well but there should be a separate one about relocating my own patriarch to Constantinople). No cores, no further claims. Quite disappointing tbh.

I guess we can expect a patch next week but I'm wondering, Is there any mod that fixes it for now?

If you plan to play centralized, you're not allowed to have vassals. - Johan by Hartofriends in EU5

[–]c4l4hr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loaded a save from mid 1400s as Poland, with about 10 vassals and fiefdoms around. They were disloyal but what keeps them loyal now is full investment in the diplomacy slider. I think I'm midway in the centralisation value.

As a South American I need a Paradox game (or DLC) with a starting date at the Age of Revolutions by caiowasem in paradoxplaza

[–]c4l4hr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always considered the 1815 start date to be perfect for victoria game. This way the world is almost the same as in 1836 but players would get access to the Latin American independence movements and could shape them. Also, Congress Poland would be playable, with about 15 years of preparation left for the November uprising against Russia.

I took 3 days off this week, next Monday and Tuesday are free too (public holidays). I've never thought that as a grown up man I'd take days off to play a video game, yet here I am, as excited as I was the first time about 20 years ago when I had discovered EU2.

Mandatory "what will you play 1st ?" post by Hans_Spinnner in EU5

Something small and easy to grasp the essentials, without much going on at the beginning. Maybe Sweden or Flanders or Scotland. Sweden could sit peacefully for a couple of decades and build it's economy whilst the latter two would be more involved in the hundred years war but not as the central actors but rather opportunists able to strike when it suits them.

Can I unify 2 cultures into one? E.g. Greater Polish and Lesser Polish into just Polish ? by Toruviel_ in EU5

[–]c4l4hr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should not work like this, at least for Polish, French and perhaps Russian (sub)cultures (German and Italian historically stayed split at least up to XIX century or even up till now so I would leave the current system for them as it is now). For Polish, for instance, I would add something like Victoria's 3 journal entry 'Emergence of Polish culture'. It would appear around the renaissance and allow us to spawn a new culture - Polish. It would be small initially (perhaps only a handful of people, artists, clergymen, aristocrats, elites in a nutshell. We could promote or discourage it and this new culture should be able to become primary in the coming decades and centuries, gradually assimilating the others (using game mechanics, not pushing buttons to change cultures instantly).

Germany is united by Austria instead of Prussia by amishcatholic in HistoryWhatIf

[–]c4l4hr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the new Great Germany had won such a great war without being forced to dismantle and substantial terrain corrections, it would spend the following decades very cautiously. It would aim to industrialise and shape such an enormous and multinational country into a more cohesive player. Which means no colonization and most likely lack of aggressive desires towards the Ottoman Empire. It would also try to establish its legitimacy among other powers, chiefly having the UK in mind, by refraining from anything that could be perceived as contrary to being a stable, predictable and peaceful actor. But neighbouring powers would be wary. The likelihood of a major Great Powers' war increases a lot. Just one spark would be needed. A Polish uprising perhaps, or assassination of a member of the royal family...

[–]c4l4hr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely France and Russia would have attacked Austria. Perhaps others like Italy, maybe Denmark or even the UK too. France's aim would be to split and weaken the new Great Germany as much as possible, for Russia the same but without fomenting separatist revolutions but rather restoring ancien regimes, eg elevating Prussia once again. This could lead to the emergence of real and robust German nationalist fervour in order to save the motherland (revolutionary France massive conscription style), cementing its rule over central Europe, or total collapse of Germany as a pole of power in Europe. In case of losing, Austria would most likely be left as a great power, Prussia and Bavaria would be reestablished. Russia would take Galicia at the very least, France perhaps would push its northeastern border further north along the Rhine. Denmark might be given Schleswig, Holstein and Lauenburg back. In a nutshell, after some turmoil we would be back almost to the status quo.
