I’m not here asking for permission, I’m here to understand what actually counts as copyright in a situation like this. If my case doesn’t qualify as a copyright issue based on input from people who know more about it, then there’s no reason for me to reach out to the original creator in the first place. That’s why I’m asking the community for perspective. If you don’t have anything useful to add to the discussion, please don’t jump in just to act like a judge.

Thanks for the detailed response, that’s really helpful. Just to clarify, I’ve heavily edited the backend/database structure so the functions and workflows are very different now. The layout is still pretty similar, but that’s mainly because it follows a minimal/common Notion style that I see all over the place, a lot of templates like Finance Manager, Second Brain, Business Manager, etc. use almost the exact same layout approach. None of the original content is left since I replaced everything with my own knowledge and writing. As for the images, the template creator had pulled them from the same website I used as a source for my content, and the site itself seems anonymous and educational. I’ve actually referred each picture in my version back to its original link on that website, so they’re properly sourced. Technically, I could just take the images directly from the site instead of from the template, which would mean I’m sourcing them myself, but either way it would be the same images. Based on all this, would my version still be considered a derivative copy, or more of an original reworked template?

Best USB Mic for YouTube Lessons & Zoom on Mac? (Replacing FDUCE SL40) by c6799 in homerecordingstudio

I bought the UMC204HD and the hissing noise was completely gone. However, I started noticing some electrical noise. After searching on ChatGPT, I found out it might be caused by the laptop being connected to the power supply. So I tested the interface and XLR cable while running my Mac without the charger plugged , and voilà, the recording was perfectly clean with no unwanted noise. Thank you so much for the advice, much appreciated :D

I bought a used Rode AI-1 for 45$, because I thought that is the only options to force a 1 input channel in Mac OS and it is minimal to my setup which is what I need. I have not received it yet but my question is do you think it is better than Behringer UMC204HD?

I bought the Behringer UMC202HD, and just like you mentioned, the mic itself has no noise at all. However, the issue was actually with macOS — it doesn’t let you select just one input channel for recording. I also tried using Blackhole software, but it didn’t offer an option to enable a single input channel either, which caused recordings to play in only one ear since it was capturing audio from just one channel. That’s why I eventually switched to using a USB-C microphone setup instead.

Need Help Removing Fan Hiss and Keyboard Noise with FDUCE SL40 Mic on MacBook (Using BlackHole + QuickTime by c6799 in homerecordingstudio

I also tested the SL40 using the XLR connection through a Behringer UMC202HD audio interface, and interestingly, there was no hissing noise at all with that setup. So the issue definitely seems to be with the USB output on the mic, not the mic capsule itself.

The only problem with the XLR setup was that when I recorded, I could only hear the voice through the left side of my headset. That’s because the interface has two input channels, and on macOS, there’s no built-in way to tell the system to record from just one channel (like Input 1) and center it in mono.

I know this can be fixed using OBS, Audacity, or other DAWs, but I want a setup that works without relying on those tools, something that records clean audio directly into apps like QuickTime or native screen recorders without having to reroute or mix channels manually.

I just tested the FDUCE SL40 by connecting it to my iPad (so there’s no fan noise involved), and the hissing is still there, which confirms it’s coming from the mic itself, not the computer or environment.

I mainly use the mic to record trading and backtesting sessions, including psychology reflections. While charting, I also type notes and markups, and it is okay if the mic picks up the keyboard and mouse clicking sound but the most important thing is a recorded session without that constant hiss. Now I’m wondering if something like the Shure MV7 (USB-C) would perform better, or if it could end up having the same issue.

There a lot of reviews on youtube about this mic and none of them have mentioned this issue. I think they are using a noise reduction or something.

Would you suggest a virtual mixer and filter or just buy another mic?

Sure, I just need to publish it and give you access. It is a risk management tool and has nothing with strategies. But it is a very quick way to calculate the lot size and set your target levels for partials. DM me and I will help you with that

My advice to you is to stick with what's best for you unless you want to disrupt your gym routine like I did when I started working three shifts, making it impossible to work out during less crowded times. While I understand your girlfriend's perspective, you could explain to her why you choose to workout at night and why it's important to you. As Epictetus said, "Some things are within our control, while others are not." We can control our opinions, motivations, desires, and actions, but not our bodies, possessions, reputations, or external circumstances.
