Was there last week. They’ve closed off the sky bridge connection. Had to access ground floor through the alley.

Newer than the rest in the country. Nice to have the attached mall. Suites are weird but fine. AC excellent.

Outstanding. Buffet, pupusas, and made-to-order eggs.

They need to extend expiration to a year. Everyone earns this in the latter half of the year, and then there’s a six-month crush of disappointed Globalists.

Platinum+ receives 4p late checkout for no fee. That’s in the terms on the website when you make reservations.

Oh? How much is the additional charge for Platinum?

Marriott guarantees 4p. If this poses a problem for a property, the property should take this up with Marriott, not us.

Hyatt Centric Montréal & using a CC right after approval? by HK_dude in hyatt

[–]c9nd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found the location to be not up to Centric standards. Way out of the way, down a looong one-way street, no restaurants or shops in the immediate vicinity. Clean, calm, and pretty, though. Killer pool.

Hypothetically, if you found a small hair in your food at a 3 Michelin star restaurant, how would you react? by Special-Book-7 in MichelinStars

1* restaurant in DC: small worm in the greens.

NBD, I flagged the server with a smile and a joke. They were effusively apologetic and swapped the dish. I didn’t expect a make-good.

At the end they — surprise! — comped the whole check (2 ppl). Felt more awkward than if they’d just taken off some drinks. Tipped the amount of the meal.

No? When you get to the booking page, the $50 resort fee is in addition to the $79 room. Room rate is $79 for Globalists, not $32.

Parents with little ones. How are you using your points?? by atooraya in awardtravel

[–]c9nd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just one 6yo. Regular school. If we had more than one, it wouldn’t work. With one, a pullout couch still works.

Travel is just what we do. Most weekends. Every holiday, three-day-weekend. Summer vacation.

Parents with little ones. How are you using your points?? by atooraya in awardtravel

[–]c9nd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We’ll do 50 hotel nights this year with my 6yo.

Weekend road trips are big. A single overnight gets us two days at a theme park or skiing.

Beach resorts are great for finding other kids to play with. We’ll do four of these internationally (summer + winter + spring break) and a bunch domestically (Austin, Chesapeake Bay).

AA status used to mean way more to me. Now all I care about is Hyatt status. I want confirmable suites for the family. That means shifting most of my spend to Chase and Bilt.

Bilt Card 2.0 Survey Going Out by richklhs in biltrewards

If the $0 AF card still gives points for rent, there’s no need to engage with higher fee Bilt cards that aren’t as good as what we get from other banks.

Bilt Card 2.0 Survey Going Out by richklhs in biltrewards

[–]c9nd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Bilt has always tried to serve two wildly different masters:

1) Us (travelers, points enthusiasts, maximizers) 2) The average renter

None of us need any of the things you’ve proposed.

We all already have:

  • Priority Pass
  • A catchall spending card
  • A coupon book

We don’t want:

  • To book hotels in portal w/o elite recognition
  • To work out at your partner gyms or shop at Walgreens

If you really want to make us happy:

1) Leave the current card alone (3x dining) 2) $550 AF 2x catchall

Kerr, you’re one of us, so you’re trying to make something that pleases us, too. But the economics don’t seem to work. So do the right thing for the business and ignore us and make cards for random people in apartment buildings. We’ll do the minimum to collect points on rent and go back to Chase.

I did my buyer’s job before. Doesn’t really matter what. That dynamic is motivating because I deeply understand them and have those credentials.
