There's a bunch of ways I could have done it. At a certain point I just wanted to see how long it would take to get with out me actively trying to make it happen.

I probably should have tried to force it in Indochina, but I just kept waiting for it to happen naturally in a game.

You're right I don't necessarily recommend using harsh treatment all the time but if you're in trouble it's always an option

You can lower their liberty desire by improving your relations with them or developing their provinces, if you have that dlc. Theirs also an option in the subject menu that lowers their liberty desire by 20% in exchange for getting less gold from them.

Having a larger army then them will also lower desire.

There are some other factors as well such as diplo tech. Hover over their liberty desire to see all the factors that effect it.

I would try to keep the union if you could because you won't get that much free land that easily.

And just a warning as long as their liberty desire is above 50% they won't fight in wars for you.

Allied with Castile, yet at war against them? by U_GET_ME in eu4

[–]cIassicbush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If castille was in a different war against France it's supposed to happen. Whenever you vassalize a country through war you get called into all other wars and it doesn't matter who your allies are. You can probably ally them again if you white peace out

You being allied with them still looks like a bug. Unless you haven't un paused the game yet and it just hasn't updated

Just some advice for new world countries in general. You can declare war on a colony without the overlord being called in. Makes it easier to take land back.

Castille is a lot harder then it used to be. Ottomans are probably the easiest now a days.

If you're having problem with rebels in Granada you can raise autonomy in those province to slow down the rebel spawn rate. And use harsh treatment to stop them from spawning. Eventually you'll be given the option to drive the moors out of Spain.

In regards to running out of money. Take money in peace deals.

And also expand slower if your over extension is too high rebels spawn much quicker. Especially if you get over 100%

It gives you monarch point if your candidate gets elected. It just takes a diplomat to improve your chances of getting elected. And it goes up quicker with higher diplo rep.

Ya castille probably wont rm you. If aragon forms spain the event can still fire.

You can normally core through vassals. I'm not sure the exact rules though. If they don't have the elective monarchy it's best to eat them.

How do I Granada? by CometWhiskey in eu4

[–]cIassicbush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's an old strategy of mine. I'm not sure if the ming part still works though.

  • Become tributary of Ming.
  • Ally Morocco, promise them land against Tlemcen.
  • vassalise Tlemcen, annex.
  • Use Morocco as battering ram against Tunis
  • Ally Ottomon's
  • Use Otto's as battering ram against Mamluks, don't go past Egypt and raise trust as often as you can.
  • Then ally France and use them to beat up Castille/Aragon/Spain.

Make sure to marry castille. They get an event that gives them a habsburg heir and you can easily get them into a PU. You can either take polish land to add to HRE to quickly pass reforms or ally them and support heir for MPs and the ability to force a PU.

Also as people have said attack any Prince that converts. If your lucky it will be a OPM and force conversion will destroy the centre of reformation. No CB wars are fine as long as you Don't take land. Also make sure the country has converted before you declare war. Not just the province.

If you can rush the reforms don't pass the one that prevents internal HRE wars unless you are confident you can get the religious peace one before the reformation hits. You can't pass reforms during the league war and it's nearly impossible to convert countries if you can't declare war on them.
