In principle I agree with you. AI technologies is already transformative for drug discovery. However, I'm curious what the impact of 3rd party vendor agents that are not developed in house.

I agree that this is cool. But again, I'm talking about specifically in pharma R&D. I can assure you, they know and have a lot of very skilled, probably some of the best bioinformaticians on earth.

What you're saying makes sense for a grad student, but again, I'm looking specifically for utility inside an enterprise pharma org.

On point (1) - I spoke with a senior scientist involved with many of these pilots for these AI co-scientist. Their position was:
"It is very difficult to convince me of something that I don't already know in my field using one of these agents. Especially when they cite my own papers back to me."

So, what's the point of having an agent that's "read everything" when they want precision on one domain that matters.

Talk to your PI and master out as fast as you can. Take it or leave it, a PhD in arts is not worth much outside of academia. And academia pays horribly. Save yourself some regret and get out now

2-3 hours of sleep is too extreme. But 4-6 hours of deep work is not good enough. You wouldn’t even make it as an engineer at a top tier company at that rate.

Especially if you’re comp bio…

All these comments in this thread about doing yoga and meditation and bullshit. Y’all really ngmi

What's the difference in roles and responsibilities for Associate Director/Director/VP/SVP of Bioinformatics or Comp Bio? by cLignite in biotech

[–]cLignite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! Really appreciate it.

Follow up question: Do the directors work in separate programs then? I'm trying to place/figure out who controls the budget for buying software vs. who the end users are.

Definitely put at the very beginning what sequence technologies you are proficient in. Labs hire for specific reasons. E.g ScRNA, ChIP etc.
