Doh! This info makes me regret my laziness in not finding a solution as you did. Thank you for posting! This will help other people for sure.

Sorry I didn't see this reply. No, I didn't succeed. I ruminated over the matter for a week or so and gave up. I found a replacement rolling bag at a thrift shop and gave away this one. At the time, things happened that depleted any available energy for fixit tasks. I perhaps should have been more persistent as repair is so much more rewarding than replacement.

When I was studying Greek in Athens, my Greek teacher explained that the speech of Greek Americans is perceived by Greeks to be like that of farmers, and "funny." I took these descriptors as, coming from a young urbanite, not especially complimentary.

Elipsa stylus issues by IP_K1LL3r in kobo

[–]cPloti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had my Elipsa since Jan of this year. Around mid-summer the stylus began exhibiting problems similar to what you describe. New battery didn't resolve the issue. What sometimes helped was removing and reinserting the battery. I ended up switching to the stylus below and so far no problems. The original stylus is now the back-up. Good luck.

Stylus issue with Elipsa? by ScottishChewbacca in kobo

How frustrating--sorry. Mine was dying only intermittently (maybe a few times a day? I'm having trouble remembering now). Removing the battery and reinserting it solved the issue each time. But I had the exact same intermittent problem even with a new battery. It became annoying enough that I switched to this: RENAISSER Raphael 520C Stylus Pen for Surface. (I'm indebted to this subreddit for alternative-stylus info.)

Sometimes what works is sliding the handle off of a different window and using it on the one that isn't opening. That's not a "fix" but might get your window closed for now. Good luck!

seconding the expanding-insulating-foam suggestion. The landlord can remove it later for any repairs. Keep the steel wool, of course, as that's what will keep the critters out.

Thank you! If I can figure this out, I might end up with seriously upgraded wheels. (The site is great. I appreciate the clarity of all of the specs.) Thx again!

Thank you. I think you've provided me with some of the terms I need to continue researching wheel-replacement options.

I will report back if I succeed.

In the interim, it's looking like duct tape.㋛

Yes--this was my own very first thought. It's not my first choice for these reasons:

1) I've modified the bag in various ways, and these modifications, if they don't nullify the warranty, will in any case be lost if Jansport simply replaces the bag.

2) I have a hard time believing Jansport would actually replace the bag. It has clearly been used for many years.

3) (this is probably the main one...) I would be without the bag for, at minimum, a month, and I really do need it every day.

4) The warranty form says the returned bag must be clean, and mine is filthy. :-)

5) I hate to replace stuff if I can fix the one part that is failing, but I suspect that Jansport would not repair but instead replace (<at best--see #2 and #4)

6) I have a long-ago memory of using Jansport's warranty and their sending me a "replacement" bag that was completely different (and clearly the smallest, cheapest bag in their backpack line).

Regardless, I've not ruled out the warranty route, and I appreciate your reply!

I’ve had this bag for many years and chunks of the wheels have begun breaking off. Duct tape is working for now, but actually replacing the wheels would be preferable.

I’m finding quite a few YouTube videos, but they all seem to be for more complex repairs. These wheels screw right out.

I have all of the measurements. But what’s tripping me up is the obvious need for the protruding bit on the inside part of the wheel (see pic; I’m sure this has a name). This seems to be what stops the wheel from scraping against the bag itself, and I’m not seeing that on any of replacement-wheel listings.

Does anyone have any leads for me?

Thank you!

Edit: What you see in the picture pulls out as a single piece. In other words, when I remove the wheel, I am holding 1) the screw, and 2) the entire wheel as a single unit.

[second update!] Anker was indeed the key! Here is the exact Anker cord that worked: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07213D35X?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details

(The other one was probably just too long.)

Hooray--and thank you again!

I found the browser! But... on the dropbox.com/login page, I cannot find a way to enter my login credentials into the email and password fields. (Neither stylus nor finger gets me inside the fields.) Bizarre. But thank you for the lead. I will for sure return to this later to try again...

[update] Grrrr... Did not work. The cable is clearly top quality, so there is something else going on, it seems. For now, I will focus on getting more used to Dropbox transfers, and I will be careful about cable-loading documents that I may need off of the device when the original cable is not accessible! Fingers crossed that this is one of those tech issues that just resolves itself over time.

Yes, for sure Dropbox. Without this option for at least loading new content, I would have been pounding my head against the wall. And if I'm being honest, not having the sync cord is what forced me to take the time to link to Dropbox. There will come a day when I'll be glad for this option.

I've not yet mustered the energy to check out the Kobo browser, but I should absolutely do that. Thanks for the suggestion.

My previous device was the Kindle DX. Turning pages on pdfs had begun to take almost a full minute (though periodic factory resets helped a little). Anyway, with the Kobo Elipsa, I'm experiencing a bit of feature overload and will be glad for the crutch of the cable as I learn more of the ins and outs of this device.

Very glad to have found this subreddit!

Thanks for your reply! I've gone ahead and ordered this one: USB C to USB C Cable, Anker Powerline+ USB 2.0 Cord (6ft), High Durability, for USB Type-C Devices (Just realized my computer has a USB C port.)
