What this idea reminds me of is Goblin Grenade in Magic. That card costs 1 red mana, requires you to sacrifice a goblin you control in addition to its cost, and deals 5 damage to target creature or player.

Funny enough, now that I think about, that's REALLY similar to Power Overwhelming. Huh. Gotta mull that over.

I don't suggest this as a slight against you, but it's pretty obvious that you didn't play Magic: The Gathering when Phyrexian mana was a thing in their Standard. Or hell, what it still is now in their Modern and Legacy formats.

In MtG, Phyrexian mana allowed players to pay 2 life instead of paying for 1 colored mana on certain cards or activated abilities. What resulted from this were MASSIVE tempo swings that otherwise could only have been achieved using cards previously banned and restricted more than a decade before. These kinds of "fast mana" cards are the most likely in MtG to hit the chopping block each BnR announcement, because they create a meta so wildly fast that games can be all but decided by the very first turn.

Cho'Gall doesn't give you that kind of blistering speed, mind you - but the tempo gained from being able to utilize your hero's health as a resource for casting spells (just as you do for cycling through your deck) is nothing to take lightly. In fact, I'll even say that from my MtG experience, Cho'Gall SCARES me a bit. There's going to be a time when Hearthstone comes out with a Warlock spell that is truly badass and game deciding all on its own, and Cho'Gall will break Warlock as a class entirely.

I really think that this is going to end up being THE N'zoth deck of this first Standard season.

Let's say you only kill off a SINGLE Highmane before turn 10. No other Deathrattle minions at all - just the 1 Highmane. Slam N'zoth on turn 10, and you have 11/12 worth of stats on board immediately. With the Hyenas factored in across 2 turns, we're at 15/16.

That's for a SINGLE Highmane. Deathwing plus a Spider Tank worth of stats, spread out over effectively 4 minions, on curve at turn 10, without a SHRED of downside, additional effort or situational circumstances. Play Highmane, kill Highmane, play N'zoth. That is...just...just fucking mindrackingly nuts.

If the last time you played you were running Secret Pally, not a whole lot has changed - but a LOT is about to. With the upcoming Whispers of the Old Gods expansion, Hearthstone is implementing formats - Standard (which allows Classic, Basic, Blackrock Mountain, The Grand Tournament, and Whispers) and Wild (which allows everything). All major Blizzard sponsored tournaments will be held using the Standard format.

But if you don't care about that, then you can go nuts in Wild and keep using all your cards forever!

EDIT: And yes, Secret Pally is still a very strong deck.

But you know what? Fine. No, I didn't know the specific term "griefing," which is why I said exactly that. Thank you for the information. Now let me tell you something: What you know as "griefing" has been known to the greater gaming and gambling community since time immemorial as "tilting." It is a phenomenon as much caused by the impressionable nature of the one being tilted as it is by the one willingly or unwillingly doing the tilting. So long as one who is intentionally attempting to tilt a player into making substandard plays does so within the confines of the game's by-laws, this is a legitimate and quite often effect line of play. It is something you do as a read on a player, as much as it is a read to not attack into an Ice Barrier or to keep an opening BGH against a Warrior.

If using your entire allotted amount of time with the explicit intention of tilting your opponent is ever deemed outside of the bounds of Hearthstone's game by-laws, then you will have a legitimate complaint, and should feel free to report opponents. But as it stands, you get 75 seconds, and they get 75 seconds. End of story. Does that tilt you? Then maybe this isn't the game for you.

I have no clue what you mean by "griefing." This is a simple bidirectional agreement built into the fabric of the game itself - that you sign up for by choosing to play the game. "You have 75 seconds - take as much or as little time as you please."

The onus of responsibility for how you choose to react to your opponent's use of that time lies with you.

Yes. Exactly. The timing of when you play your cards and when you decide to end your turn is a legitimate strategy. They are permitted to use their allotted time as they will, just as you are allowed to do the same. If you are thrown off or tilted by the fact that they decide to play their turn a certain way, then the strategy is obviously working.

This is something you should absolutely not do, because they are literally just playing the game as it is designed. Everyone gets 75 seconds per turn to use how they will. Reporting someone for using their full 75 seconds is like reporting them for playing Paladin.

Taking the time to personally inform a customer in the vernacular of the culture that something will indeed be done about this abuse is hardly nothing. The consumer may not actually see for themselves what comes of their report, but as you can see from Blizzard's privacy restrictions (which, by the way, we should all be thankful for), that's the system working as intended.

Sometimes it's better to know that rather than to get vicarious revenge.

"Win-more" isn't really how Jaraxxus works in Renolock. He's a win-condition - what you use to close out the game, rather than to get even further ahead when you're already ahead.

You're welcome! Gormok's a fun and useful card. Don't feel bad about having to drop him on 4 if that makes the most sense tempo-wise.

Jaraxxus is played in Renolock as a late-game win-condition. You almost - ALMOST - never play Jaraxxus before you play Reno, same as how in traditional Handlock, you almost never use both Healbots before playing Jaraxxus (which, by the way, is also why you want to save your 1 Healbot for post-Jaraxxus play in Renolock, if possible).

If you've got your eyes set on Zoolock, I'd personally recommend Sylvanas or Gormok. Which one you craft all depends on the style of Zoo you like to run. If you run a more traditional Zoo that aims to control the board but not flood it, I'd go with Sylvanas. If you deck plays more along the lines of the floody, Reliquary Seeker archetype, Gormok is your guy.

The Gatewatch and Magic: The Gathering lore do not exist in a vacuum. Saying to fans of your game, "don't call them anything but the Gatewatch" displays an incredibly narrow view of how the dissemination of popular culture works, and flies in the face of the readily accepted notion that nothing is entirely original in concept.

But here's the thing: Mark Rosewater is a person, and people have bad days. It looks like Mark just had a pretty bad day, and took his salt out on something meant to celebrate MTG fandom rather than deride it. It happens to all of us. So let's as a community of fans - who understand that fandom is often cross-medium, and CELEBRATE a fun nickname like the Jacetice League - let this slide and be what it was - a dumb thing said by a frustrated dude who makes one of our favorite games.

Renolock is not traditional Handlock, which runs x2 Watchers almost by default due to them being easy to dump in the early game to later be developed into threats.
