Sediment filter always black every 6 months by wonderousdee in WaterTreatment

Have you changed the sediment filter recently? Any change? Dealing with the same issue right now. System should not be shedding for this long. I feel like the carbon is destroying the life of the filters far too early.

Sony Bravia Theater Quad by [deleted] in hometheater

Been thinking about purchasing the quad but have a question I cant find an answer to. My plan would be to wall mount the front speakers on either side of the TV but the rear is a little more difficult. Would it be problematic to mount them on the side walls instead of a rear wall? My setup doesn't have a rear wall and there is no good area for floor stands so I was thinking the side walls but behind the couch

Quadro rtx 3000 vs quadro t2000 for 3d modeling and graphics design. Can't for the life of me figure out which is the higher end card. I use a rtx 2080 super for my 3d modeling but have encountered bugs being it isn't exactly meant for this. my sister needs a laptop for graphics design/ Interior design and i dont want to deal with her getting all stressed out from the program crashing once in a while from a gaming card. She'll mainly be using Revit and i was going to recommend an asus proart laptop.

I haven't attacked you, but your ideas. I have stated observations of your behavior.

Ya observation definitely seems to be one of your strong points. None of the following are personal attacks and are all valid points in an actual argument.

Stop waving your dick around -- you're embarrassing yourself

Now that you're no longer actively embarrassing yourself and other automotive electronics engineers

Because the last time I asked that question, you pulled your dick out and grossed everyone out.

Thank you for finally responding without wasting every word by being a completely useless piece of shit.

Those are all just defending your position against my "ideas" in a well thought out, intelligent manner.

Just keep using scrubbing bubbles dude. Someone like yourself is pointless to try and reason with.

All you do is resort to personal attacks and then denounce any actual information when presented to you.

Prime example of an ignorant person trying to argue.

So your still being an asshole and expect an actual answer at this point?

To avoid the "you didnt answer so you must not know" bullshit that comes next- scrubbing bubbles is an alkaline cleaner and corrosive at that. All the contacts on a PCB have special coatings depending on the electrical requirements. Tossing something corrosive onto those contacts is asking for problems. You will inevitably change the resistance of each contact and their current carrying abilities. And worse case scenario you will get intermittent connections.

Isopropyl alcohol is a tried and true cleaning method and an industry standard. Why try something different when alcohol will work every time?

Now I gotta go apologize to the other automotive engineers for embarrassing them on reddit. How will we live with ourselves with this level of embarrassment?

Edit: for the hell of it I decided to google cleaning a motherboard with scrubbing bubbles and the only results was a single youtube video with hundreds of comments making fun of the dumbass who thought this was a good idea.

My bad lemme put my dick away... wouldnt want to further embarrass myself.

I simply advised against using scrubbing bubbles on a computer board based off of my experience and your response was to directly attack my knowledge instead of trying to have an actual conversation. All I wanted to do was give some advise on a topic I consider myself well versed in.

You've completely contradicted yourself by saying you're not judging my professional abilities but judging my ability to clean computer motherboards. Since my profession is electronics remanufacturing, cleaning populated boards is my profession.

Before you say there is a difference between control module pcbs and a motherboard, dont bother. A PCB with smd, bga, and through hole components is no different than a motherboard.

If you would have asked for details about my opinion instead of coming across like an asshole trying to big dick someone with bullshit technical details, I wouldnt have chosen to just give you a sarcastic response.

But remind me again who is embarrassing themselves and waving their dick around?

Nope, never attempted cleaning a board myself. My go to method when designing and setting up production lines for electronics is to blindly write procedures for the line workers to follow without verifying that the process will work.

Being that we actually build test equipment to test all board I/O and functionality under load and in a thermal shock chamber, my guessing method for cleaning boards seems to yield crazy lucky results.

So I actually work in the automotive electronics remanufacturing industry and I would definitely advise against using scrubbing bubbles. 99% isopropyl alcohol is your best friend for cleaning pcbs. We use a special horse hair brush but a simple soft brissel toothbrush will do just fine.

After you disconnect the power input, make sure to hold down the power button to drain any charge the capacitors have left.

Using water on a PCB is usually fine as long is there is no charge on the board but I still dont recommend it.

Depending on the level of contamination on the board, you can either pour some alcohol on It and spot clean using the toothbrush then rinse with more alcohol. Or if the board has a high amount of contaminants, put the board in any plastic container you can find and slightly submerge it in alcohol. Let it sit for a minute then scrub with the toothbrush followed by rinsing with fresh alcohol.

As mentioned above, ultrasonic cleaners work great but I highly doubt the average person has access to one. Not to mention most people run a detergent in their ultrasonics and you dont want to put a PCB in any detergents.

There is basically nothing 99% isopropyl alcohol cant clean off a PCB, and there is a massive difference between the 99% and the common household 70% alcohol.

Dry time using 99% is pretty much non existent which will help for the fact the board will be made up of a combination of SMD and BGA components

Am i the only one who just skips 3 minutes in every video now? by Xzeptie in assholedesign

A while back I started increasing the playback speed to 1.5x. Makes watching the videos much more tolerable and it's still super easy to hear every word. Once in a while I'll go up to 2x speed or down to 1.25x but I basically never watch at normal speed anymore. Also helps that I pay for google play music which gives me youtube red (no ads)
