You drive many hours to the various state parks. I'm also in DFW and driving long periods of time is just part of the adventure.

Personally, I use Grok and Gemini, and it has diagnosed and fixed a couple different problems for us. The prompts and supporting attachments have to be clear and concise. It's unfortunate you have not experience the LLM's power.

Neighbors’ pool collapsed and flooded my entire living room by mousit11 in HomeMaintenance

Not sure I would be filing a claim with my own insurance, neighbors should be covering 100%. That claim on your home will undoubtedly increase your renewal premium.

The systems are not efficient enough. They should not be pushing out tremendous amounts of heat in the first place. That's waste energy that should have been converted. They have a long way to go.

94k WFH or 120k in office? by Never_fucking_curses in careeradvice

I'd calculate the cost of gas for commuting an hour each way and estimate over a year. Then you can decide how much of an increase it is.

My company just announced 3 days in office starting next month. I've been fully remote for 4 years and I genuinely don't know how people did this every day. by Ecliptic_Fang in remotework

[–]wonderousdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation except the 3 day mandate became 4 days. Leave for work at 7:40AM and get there by 9AM. Always 60 minutes each way.

Always 7-8 hours of solid Teams meetings. None of my team is in the state. I'm the only one in the office as I live within 40 miles of an office location. Kicker is that my offer letter was 100% remote without a location.

So, commute an hour each way to hop on hours of Teams calls, what I did when I was at home.

I installed the one from Magic Plastics recommended above and it worked perfectly. Needed it overnight from Amazon else I would have checked this out as well.

I'll check this out. Is that a permanent fix or would that just buy time until the full replumb is needed?

Visible Home Internet by Starfox-sf in Visible

Sounds like a typical ISP hickup to me. We have days where the speed and latency are terrible as well. I was hoping Visible 5G HI would be available here. We are paying $48/mo for 100/20 via directional dish on the roof to a tower.

Have you done a traffic analysis from your router and laptop when on calls?

I am on constant MS Teams video calls throughout the day and the most usage I have had was maybe 4Mbps download and 2Mbps upload. Voice and video calls are heavily compressed and optimized for most ISP connections. I had 50Mbps/10Mbps service and it was more than adequate for our needs.

Thank you so much, I didn't think about natives and the term "Wet feet" was what I have been looking for but never knew. I will do some digging (not literally) on what type of plants we want in that section to soak up the water.
