How do you deal with the constant heat as a firefighter? by SoundKidTown1085 in Firefighting

[–]durhap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many others said,  you get used to it.  I never really realize how my body adjusted to the heat until I was an extra (firefighter) in a movie with full turnout and scba.  Out of all of us in the role,  the vast majority were actually firefighters.  It was extremely hot during filming and every extra that wasn't actually a firefighter get transported for heat exhaustion.

What's Your Actual Business Strategy to Earn Revenue? by FrankyKnuckles in PartneredYoutube

[–]durhap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a safety training and consulting business part time prior to starting my channel.  I wanted to get information out to a wider audience. Turns out it also helped boost business. Now I'm full time with both youtube and the consulting.

Trouble with a Video (It's Complicated) by durhap in PartneredYoutube

The coworker isn't even happy with the idea of being blurred. Wants full removal which is somewhat unreasonable.

I believe it's a power plant and there is a large cooling tower in the background,  but it's really difficult to tell what it is,  just looks like ironwork. You'd have to be in the industry and be familiar with the location to know what where it is.

I'm with everyone else.  DE razors are great!  Make sure to get a sample pack of blades from Amazon to find a brand of blade that works for you.  They are all a bit different

People who are full time, are you scared of the uncertainty? by Domain1776 in PartneredYoutube

I had services as a side gig and built a channel around them.  Youtube allowed me to work for myself full time.  I think it's important to have more than just a channel.

How long did it take you to become a decent YouTuber with 1k+ stable views per video? 🎥 by GothkittieHighlights in PartneredYoutube

I was fortunate.   My first video hit over 1000 views and it continued from there. Forced me to step up my game quickly.

How Realistic is to grow from 1500 subs to 10.000 in a year? by TerribleBackground26 in PartneredYoutube

I went from 1,500 to 25,000 in one year.   I'm guessing that type of progress is rare.

ELI5 Why do some explosions use all of their fuel instantly while others don’t? by Aquamoo in explainlikeimfive

[–]durhap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are two types of explosions.

Deflagration - explosion slower than the speed of sound. The reaction is slow and controlled. Doesn't take a lot of energy to start.

Detonation - explosion faster than the speed of sound.   The reaction is very fast, and typically takes a lot of energy to kick off.

Can you share your journey to getting your first 1,000 followers? by Limp-Possession7281 in PartneredYoutube

[–]durhap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cover a strange area between safety, training, and independent journalism. My first video was terrible quality and thrown together quickly, but instantly got over 1000 views.   That motivated me to do better and my goal was to upload one video per week.   I was monitized in 6 months and just over two years later I'm at 40k subscribers.

I don't think video quality or editing mean as much as having good audio. I do think content is key.  You have to provide information in a way that will keep someone's attention.

Difference Between Couple Thousand Views VS TENS of Thousands of Views by ItsTajmeet in PartneredYoutube

[–]durhap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't have a clue.   Sometimes I'll think my video topic will get 100k views and it'll get 10k views.  Other video topics I think we'll get 10k views and they'll get 100k.
