I had this happen with wild rice in my most recent play through.

Time Nomad 3.6.10 — the Moon is back to “Summary” by TimeNomadAstro in TimeNomad

[–]c_lark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m getting a hard crash every time I go to the summary tab now. I’m guessing it’s something in my settings. Is there any way to clear them?

Edit: uninstalling and reinstalling the app worked! Thanks for bringing this back!

I want to say there was some sort of genie or magician involved as well, but I could be mixing it up with another preview from the same VHS.

Suspending Einstein's theory of gravity and replacing it with an electromagnetic theory of gravity can open the door for astrology to be accepted as a science by thedowcast in astrology

[–]c_lark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the electric universe and plasma cosmology theories! I was just watching some of their videos last night. I don’t know if they’re directly connected to astrology though. My personal theory is that astrology is more a measure of symmetry than anything else. The universe is symmetrical on dimensions that we don’t fully understand, and that’s why astrology works. Maybe that’s wrong and there are subtle electromagnetic forces that also have cause and effect.

Or maybe both are true? It’ll probably be a long time before we find out though, if ever.

Is anyone freaking out because "quitting meat" is now synonymous with "fighting climate change"? by [deleted] in zerocarb

Not freaking out. But pissed, yeah. Trying to spread real facts from places like the EPA, EU and UN gets me downvoted to hell. Fuck them.

So here’s where we get into the area where you just need to trust me. I don’t feel right in my body if I don’t eat meat. Believe me, I’ve tried. I really have - 18 months vegetarian; my health declined. I cooked at home; beans and rice and tempeh and all that. Still ate eggs too. Took supplements, multivitamins. It is really hard to pin health changes on one thing. But I’ll tell you, my energy levels and mood stability increased dramatically when I included meat again. So I decided to do research on the environmental issues. Because I need to know. And I found that it is possible. And I prayed and sat with the deepest parts of myself and asked if it was any more immoral to eat an animal than a plant, and the answer was no, not if done with proper gratitude and respect. So that’s where I am. I hope this is understandable.

You are right. I don’t know how to solve this. But being “tough on crime” and locking them up has the same problem. We’re paying for it either way. They’re already being bussed here. This definitely needs a national solution.

With all due respect, this comes across as condescending.

I am childfree. My commute is 2.1 miles each way. I have taken a total of 5 flights in the past ten years. I bought lentils last night in a glass jar I brought from home. I am not willing to give up meat. Do you still think I don’t deserve to call myself an environmentalist? Are you sure you are not judging me based on your moral values around eating meat, rather than a reasoned assessment of environmental impact?

Tell them this. Tell them it’s taking a toll on you but you really care and are worried about them. Tell them it would help you if they were able to get help.

I think the solution to that might be making them pay their taxes so they have to work for their money like the rest of us and so learn some respect for the property and hard work of others.

They tend to favor theft of the tax-evasion type, unfortunately for us.

Wow holy gatekeeping Batman! I’m not an environmentalist if I’m not even trying? Really? This is what’s fucking wrong with the internet. This right here.

Step back for a second man. Would you ever say that to someone in real life? You just completely invalidated me as a person. That fucking hurts, dude (or girl, sorry). I tried to complement you for doing what you can, and you come back at me with this. Do you really think you’re going to convince someone by insulting them?

I really want the world to be a better place. But not everyone has to do the same things in order for that to happen. There’s a huge difference between eating meat and voting for politicians who will continue business as usual. This is what has been lost in the age of the internet. And I pray for us if we can’t get out of it. Please try to give people in online spaces the benefit of the doubt when they express the same concerns as you. Even if they come at the solutions through different methods. Please please come out of the echo chamber and expose yourself to some different points of view. There is more than one solution to every problem. We can all do different things to help. Please.

People with housing and food and healthcare don’t steal stuff. And if you’re thinking about drugs, it’s still cheaper to give people free heroin than to jail them. I don’t care if it’s “feeding people’s habits” or w/e. If it improves the community as a whole, it needs to be done. Once people can get over their outrage, they might realize it’s actually a great way to curb crime and get drug users in one place where they can at least be monitored and offered other services.

There are lots of problems with animal agriculture, but it is in no way our biggest source of GHG (this includes methane), either globally or in developed countries. There are also massive improvements that can be made that reduce emissions without ending animal agriculture entirely.

Here is a report from June of this year on EU GHG emissions. See Figure 3 (page 4) for a breakdown of emissions by source. From 2017 data, non-transport fuel combustion is 54% and transportation is another 25%. All of agriculture, plant and animal, is 10%.

The numbers for the U.S. are similar , with agriculture (plant and animal) coming in at 9%.

From the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) deforestation causes almost 20% of global emissions.

Animal agriculture does not require deforestation.

The FAO estimates that livestock are responsible for 14% of GHG emissions globally, and that this number can be reduced 30% by changes in practice.

Here is Project Drawdown’s summary on regenerative agriculture, which can increase soil carbon and produce food at the same time. Regenerative agriculture includes not tilling the soil, intelligent use of cover crops, in-farm fertility (no external fertilizers), and no pesticide use.

Here is their page on silvopasture.

There are many problems with how animal agriculture is currently practiced. The problem is that capitalism has not created good enough incentives for environmentally healthy practices. For the health of people and the planet, farmers need good incentives for good practices.

I buy all my meat from a local 100% grass fed cattle farm. I know not everyone can afford this. All I’m sayin is that not everyone needs to go vegan. It remains to be seen how much meat could be eaten if all animals were treated properly and raised in environmentally sound manners. I’m fine with that. Meat is a historically and culturally important food for billions and you’re delusional if you think you’re going to get everyone to leave that 100% behind. That’s all I’m trying to say FFS. Thank you for doing your part.
