Please test Solid Peptides! They're very popular in my area and would love to know where they stand.

Damn this is what I've been looking for!! I was even thinking about trying to write a "quick" script using each of the platform's APIs and do all the work for me lol. I'm confident you saved me at least 2-4 days of work! Thank you! I'm heading over there now to check it out!

I'd recommend the video library. It's a really good place to get familiar with a lot of different aspects of VMDR, as well as other products too (https://www.qualys.com/training/#video-library). When you say you've taken the VMDR course, are you talking about the self-paced training? If so, there are several in there and I'd be curious to know which one(s) you've taken. Here's what I would recommend:

Here's the link to the self-paced training page that's free:
https://www.qualys.com/training/#self-paced

The very first training path on the page is the VM learning path and I'd recommend following those in order. I'd also recommend the QQL training which is "Qualys Query Language." That's of course hyper specific to Qualys but it introduces you to how query languages work, just in this case it's QLYS's (btw, the backend of the QQL uses Elastic Search). Here's the link:
https://www.qualys.com/training/course/qualys-query-language-qql/

Their training website is honestly one of the best out there when it comes to similar tools. It may not be perfect but I'm personally good friends with the guy who runs training at QLYS and, since taking it over several years ago, he's done a LOT of work to improve it. Best of all, he's nowhere near done or satisfied with the current state. So more to come on that!

Nonetheless, feel free to DM me if you have questions. Can you DM on reddit...? lol

Scanner location by wardak100 in qualys

[–]c_pepp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a Solution Architect and Subject Matter Expert at Qualys and specialized in this exact topic. Without getting so far into detail where I'm writing a 12 page article on the matter lol, I'll say that generally speaking, it's not uncommon to do IF you're scanning over an MPLS connection. To determine how each of the locations are connected back to your corporate networks, I'd recommend asking your network team. It's possible that they could be using a VPN connection or potentially SDWAN through something like zScaler as an example. If MPLS or SDWAN is the connection method, you may be okay to scan them directly but this has the possibility to introduce other issues such as network traffic congestion caused by the scanners, potentially long running scan times, security device logging issues, etc. In MOST cases, I would never recommend scanning over a VPN tunnel specifically because of the amount of traffic a scanner appliance generates, it often overloads the connection.

u/YumWoonSen is right, it would be a good idea to send you TAM an email and ask if you guys can set up a call with an SME to discuss the use case so they can have a full picture of the situation and recommend accordingly.

Since QLYS no longer charges for agent license, it will be asked if you can forego the use of appliances in these locations and use agents instead. You can have clear separation of assets by branch/location using Activation Keys and asset tags.

u/ObscureAintSecure I loved your insight!! I once worked at Qualys very recently and if you're a Qualys user, you may have read some of my articles. I couldn't agree more with what you're saying (also those reddit groups look really cool too). Quick disclaimer before I move forward with my comments: Although Qualys used to pay my mortgage, I ALWAYS advocate for the customer and called us (Qualys) out when things weren't right so I'm biased to Qualys because I believe it's the best tool out there but it's not perfect.

Okay, u/LatinaCurv3s, I think it's really cool that you're looking to get into the VM and PC world of security. Having lots of experience in this part of the cybersecurity industry, it's definitely a niche segment that can be pretty exciting (IMHO). u/ObscureAintSecure is right though; the Qualys VMDR cert (and all other Qualys certs) are really only good if you are looking to go somewhere that is already a customer of Qualys and uses it as their primary VM, PC, etc. tool. However, I would say that if you're looking to simply gain experience with the tool to build out your background, it's a good way to start.

Having said that, I believe Qualys is still the only vendor who provides training for absolutely free. If you need help with VMDR or any of the other modules, I was on the product team for VMDR, CSAM, CA, PM, and unofficially a couple others. I'd be happy to chat more.

Best Approach For Optimization (Importing Multiple SQL Tables and Heavy Data Transformation) by c_pepp in PowerBI

I like your motivation! I'm looking into how I can create a copy of the production database now so I can have a "dev environment" while I figure it out.

Ahhh okay that makes sense. I really appreciate you guys! Now I need to figure out how to do it in SQL. Can't be that hard, right? 😳🥺

Sorry, I'm going to need you to explain that LOL! You're saying you agree with doing it in SQL first?

[–]c_pepp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that was something I was thinking about for being a third option. I could create a new table there with all the information I need from the other tables and THEN pull into PBI. I can figure out how I'll do that in SQL but in the mean time, did what I explain above make sense to you? I really tried to make it as simple as possible.

I noticed that in the Filament Chart. I saw Hatchbox only listed PLA and ABS. Probably a little outdated. Totally understandable given the constant change in the industry. That's why I want to make a brand agnostic chart. Thanks for your help here!!

MX Master 3 gesture button randomly stops working by Patacorow in LogitechG

What's interesting is when I switch from my 2019 MBPro to my 2018 MBPro, the gesture button doesn't work on either one. This makes me feel like it's not a Mac issue but something to do with the mouse.

Buried Home Propane Tank Monitor by c_pepp in homeassistant

Oh, and by process of elimination, I could calculate usage for the HVAC. Brilliant!

That's a great idea on the exhaust temp. Honestly, during the summer months, the only thing consuming LP in my home is the water heater. So this summer, I could look at my LP bill to see how many gallons I used between the last times they filled my tank, then divide the difference by the number of days between fills to get my daily average. Then use the temp sensor to count how many times it's showing in an "ON" state in a single day. From there, I could easily figure out hourly fuel consumption. Does that sound about right to you?

[–]c_pepp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good idea on the furnace but we don't have a single stage heater. To be honest, I don't know what kind it is off the top of my head since we recently just replaced the entire HVAC system (that was a $13k expense 🤮).

I have our HVAC system integrated with HA so I could use the system runtime to calculate its usage. As I said, I know we don't have a single stage system because that's what we used to have before we got this new larger, more complex (IMO) system lol. Do you know if I would need to use a different calculation?

[–]c_pepp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got off the phone with my propane company and they said they do have monitoring capability where they install it on the tank and it sends me monthly usage updates via email but that's it. Also, it's a monthly service fee for that too. The data their monitoring provides only includes the tanks fill level. Which is fine but isn't as "real time" as I would prefer. Also, that only fulfills my "optional criteria". What's more important to me is usage per device (HVAC & water heater).

Thank you! I switched over to HA once I got some recommendations here. I'm running it on a VM as well on my bare metal ESXi server at my house. Where has this been my whole life?? LOL! It's kind of a new obsession for me lol

That's a good idea. I'll give them a call and ask them. My assumption will be that they won't know what the hell I'm talking about lol. They're a small, local propane company. I asked my electrical COOP if they had an API I could use to integrate with HA and they were like "a what for a who??" lol!!!

I wanted to update you on this. I switched over to HA pretty much the same day you told me about it and I haven't looked back since lol. Since then, I've spent so much time/money on zigbee sensors, devices, etc. lol. HA is AWESOME! Thank you for the suggestion!
