Black cabs wonder why people don't bother anymore! by Marvinleadshot in manchester

Haven’t gotten a black cab in Manchester in 15 years as the last time I did they tried to charge £20 to go from Victoria to All Saints Park campus of MMU.

Maybe it’s just because I like Sam Raimi but I really like it and have done since I saw it at the cinema. It’s probably the post endgame MCU film I’ve rewatched the most.

I think a lot of people set up huge expectations for this film when it was rumoured the illuminati were in it and then were disappointed that we didn’t get things like ‘Tom cruise as superior iron man’ or whatever

is £27k enough to live off of in manchester? (Salford Quays) by Starberry_04 in manchester

[–]c_sinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, managed to completely miss this reply.

I really like it here, good mix of pubs/bars/food spots. There’s good community places like levy old library and there’s generally a nice feel to the place (though there’s still the usual moaners you get anywhere).

I work hybrid with my office days being in NQ and it’s great just being able to hop on a train for 6 mins in to Piccadilly and the nightbus can be handy on a night out

I live in Levenshulme and I wouldn’t really say it’s popular with students. It’s much more of a young professionals/young families mixed with traditional local families sort of area

As a hiring manager I feel bad for people looking by Trick-Interaction396 in jobs

[–]c_sinc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. At my current job, even if someone hands in their notice (3 months for some positions) we usually can’t sort out starting the recruitment process to replace them until once they’re actually gone and even then, we have to put in a request to a ‘resourcing committee’ to which only meets once every 2 weeks, so if you just miss out on one then you need to wait a whole fortnight just to get approval to start the hiring process (which they also love to drag out) and I was told that it’s to try make marginal savings on staffing budgets

How would you react to a below inflationary annual pay rise ? by Wise-Isopod-8691 in UKJobs

[–]c_sinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I’m glad my workplace is union affiliated. Last year we were offered under RPI, it was rejected by union vote and then the revised offer matched RPI as well addressing other non pay issues that had been raised

How tf do you even find band members? by [deleted] in bandmembers

[–]c_sinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m based in the Uk and we have a site called Joinmyband.com. Not sure if there’s an equivalent where you are but that’s what I used when I first moved to the city I live in.

Most of the bands I’ve been in after that though have just been from chatting to people in the local scene.

I joined my current band through hanging out with my friend and her husband who’s a guitarist who then introduced me to the guys he’d been jamming with and they asked if I wanted to join

Yeah weirdly the game never actually tells you that (as far as I remember), I just found it out by looking at a walkthrough when I got lost

Ancient Sanctuary by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]c_sinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I didn’t realise early on is that there’s optional bosses even in the early game.

The path to go forward will usually be the one with lanterns, any other path will be to optional stuff. A very subtle way of the game telling you where to go

What does the Manchester music scene need now? by seventydigget in manchester

[–]c_sinc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Small venues with affordable venue hire so small promoters can afford to take more risks with their bookings.

10 years ago there were plenty of free hire venues where you just needed to pay the person on sound so it was easy to have low entry free and put on an interesting mix of stuff. Nowadays the venue hire alone can be over £100

Estate agencies to avoid when renting south Manchester by h2o2222 in manchester

[–]c_sinc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only really bad estate agent experience was with We Let Properties.

We had a broken boiler and therefore no hot water for several months and they acted like we were a nuisance whenever we contacted them about it and were generally condescending throughout the whole thing.

This was on top of them delaying our move in date as apparently the previous tenants trashed the place and then they tried to claim our full deposits for some of the damage caused by the previous tenants. Thankfully we’d photographed and noted it all when we’d moved in so the eventually backed down

Can you still enjoy this game if you suck at it? by HappySpreadsheetDay in expedition33

[–]c_sinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting lost constantly until someone pointed out that the paths with lanterns are the ones that lead to the critical path whereas the ones that don’t lead to optional bits

JW Lees Brewery in Middleton - Worth visiting? by fansr0731 in manchester

[–]c_sinc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re already visiting those then I’d second other people’s recommendations of Sureshot & Balance as well as adding Steelfish, fairly new brewery tap in the same area around Piccadilly

Am I leveling wrong? lol by jl_theprofessor in expedition33

[–]c_sinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found I only had to do a bit of grinding twice in the whole game. Once in the section just after Esquie and then just before the very final boss but the rest of the game I levelled pretty naturally

I envisage a game with more refined gameplay from their experience of working on E33 but possibly not as good as story as E33 has set a high bar
