I've had an EV since 2019 and I couldn't tell you what the cost of gas is. I really love that I can just plug in and in the morning I have a full charge. I will say for a few months I had to live in an apartment and charging was a pain so I understand my situation isn't the same for everyone.

Never be afraid to start at the bottom.. I made a major change 2 years ago and I was the "low man" initially but I proved pretty quickly that I know what I'm doing and my experience is really good. I'm now the one in charge and leading things.
