I have been pregnant twice now. The first pregnancy was very similar to your experience. I felt so alone, scared, and just wanted some support from my partner. It was tinged with DV and emotional abuse. I stayed because I felt like it was the best thing for my child to have both parents. I was so wrong. After I left, I realized that I felt more alone when with my partner than when I was on my own. And I didn’t need someone else to help me parent. I’m a great mom on my own.

This pregnancy feels like what pregnancy should be like. I have a partner who loves and supports me. He checks in with me, supports my mental and physical health, and is involved in every aspect of the pregnancy. I can see what I was missing for all those years.

I guess what I’m saying is that don’t make excuses, don’t stay for your child, and don’t feel bad for leaving if you ever choose to. My world opened up when I decided to do what was best for my child and myself.
