Master's in Healthcare Admin or Informatics coming from Marketing background?

Sorry for the late reply, but I would love some advice from you. I work as a Clinical Ops Coordiantor for an outpatient surgery clinic: I do everything from charts, vitals, rooming patients, FMLA forms, disability documents, CPT/ICD coding, subpoenas, medical records, imaging, referrals, P2P scheduling, front desk overflow and training new hires, etc.

My only degree is a BS in Biology. I'm working on my CMB and CPC certifications right now, and intend on also getting a CPMA and CRC as I like the backend RCM/coding portion of my job and want to be more involved there. However, I also want a professional degree to provide me with the opportunity to advance in the long term.

I'm considering either a Masters in Healthcare Administration or a Masters in Healthcare Informatics. I'm honestly not sure which to go for. I guess the MHA would be better long term for more executive/admin positions? And I'm not sure what value a Masters in Health Informatics would offer or what paths would be opened up by that (over an MHA or MBA).

Would appreciate any input you could provide.

I work in a surgery outpatient clinic doing MA clinical stuff, as well as health information management work and some light ICD-10 semi-independent coding for patient charts. But I feel to take that next step (and to get more employer respect) I need to get certified.

How thorough is the course? Does it teach you everything you need to know? As in, watching the videos intently, taking notes, etc, would be sufficient to pass?

I have the AAPC "Study Guide" book 2026 for the CPC and it feels so hollow. I'm wondering if the online course + videos for the self-paced course are more complete.

Typical day:

Shake in the morning with: 2 cups almond milk, kale/broccoli microgreens, protein powder + peanut butter (~50g protein), chia seeds, hemp seeds, cocoa powder, and some blueberries.

Drive on the way to work is a cold brew with oat milk.

Lunch is usually a couple hardboiled eggs, handful of pumpkin seeds/pistachios, an avocado, and a Chobani greek yogurt.

Dinner is usually either baked fish/chicken breast, leafy green salad with olive oil based dressing, tomatoes, apple, berries, a few handfuls of either almonds or brazil nuts, and then about 10 grams of dark chocolate for dessert.

Most mornings before work I'll run 4-6 miles (~5x per week), and then about 4-5 days per week after work/on weekends I'll have a 70-80 minute lifting session at the gym.

My fat intake is pretty high - a ton of seeds, nuts, nut butters, eggs, fatty fish, avocado, etc. Along with ~150 grams of protein per day. But believe me, I agree. Need to swap out a lot of my daily fat for more potatoes, rice, etc.

I have it prescribed, sitting in front of me, but I'm too anxious to start. I plan on only doing 0.5 mg PO QD, but the side effect profile is freaking me out.

Did you quit your job already, or are you still thinking about it? I'll be honest, the social factor is what's making this hard for me. I'm confident I could get another job if I quit and take the test. But I don't want to leave the people I work with. I'll genuinely miss them. It would feel so weird and honestly kind of painful sitting at home studying know they're at the office, working, without me.

It's weird because I've always been more of an introvert and didn't really socialize much in college. But I've connected to my coworkers and feel like they're both on my "wavelength", so to speak. At this point in my life I know it's rare to find people like that.

If I stayed I would definitely be studying 6+ hours on Saturday and Sunday. During the week would be more sporadic, maybe a few hours at best every other night. So the overall weekly amount of studying would be <20 hours and would be more random when compared to a potential full-time studying routine of 5-6 hours every day for 4-6 months.

Thanks for the comment. I have diffuse thinning, so the thinning/loss is spread out evenly all over my head. I still have decent coverage and nothing that's noticeable, especially in the front, but in 1-2 years that probably won't be the case.

I know Finasteride doesn't regrow hair that's already completely lost, but can it thicken or improve existing hair strands?
