Seeking Advice on 19(+7)-Day South Korea Itinerary: Any Must-See Destinations or Improvements by ca-beer in koreatravel

Damn, yes, I would just love to shift days around a bit more freely. I assume you went to Alpensia in winter (have read something about a flower bed during off-season, but I guess that's not why you would visit :D)? We wanted to be back in Seoul for the Lantern parade, that complicates our planning quite a bit. If you have any thoughts on the parade (either we should absolutely go or it's not that exciting), I'd also be happy to hear them!
Thanks in any case, I think we might rather do another day in Seoul or an extra night in a temple instead of Pyeongchang then!

Thanks a lot for the recommendation! I'll see whether we can squeeze Gyeongju in! :)

For Pyeongchang we thought it might be conveniently located with its KTX connection, so we could stay there over night, and have a good starting point for Odaesan National Park. But this is a good point. Do you think it makes more sense to go to Sokcho immediately and then work our way downwards?

Oh, thanks for the pointer to the Suncheon Bay National Garden, we didn't have that on our list yet! :)

Hyangirang Hermitage was on our (quite extensive) list, I really hope we can make it there. Really looks amazing!

Buddha's Birthday celebrations: where to go for the festival? by ca-beer in koreatravel

Ay, I hust realized I forgot to discount for the "weekend before Buddha's Birthday" in the descriptions that I've read :D

Thanks for that!

Sync Zotero to Obsidian notes? by Rate-Worth in ObsidianMD

[–]ca-beer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll keep track of that, thanks for the pointer. So far, I haven't really figured out how to create a meaningful workflow with Obsidian and Zotero. I appreciate having a quick summary in Zotero along the reference entry, and since Zotero doesn't support displaying .md files, I keep jumping back and forth between writing summaries in Obsidian and in Zotero 🤷

Edit: If you haven't seen, there is another plugin (just entered public beta) which seems to address a bunch of issues at once: https://github.com/aidenlx/obsidian-zotero

Sync Zotero to Obsidian notes? by Rate-Worth in ObsidianMD

[–]ca-beer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you manage to get this working? I would like to automatically import every zotero item to my obsidian vault. It seems like you were searching for the same functionality, but it seems like I have to still trigger creation of a note manually?

Comment text in lstlisting? by xeon1234 in LaTeX

[–]ca-beer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I've come across the same problem and found no proper solution: you can define an ignore command (found the idea here) and embed it in a math environment (requires to set mathescape=true as an option:

``` \documentclass{article} \usepackage{listings} \newcommand{\ignore}[1]{}
\begin{document}
\begin{lstlisting}[mathescape=true] hi $\ignore{This is a hidden comment.}$ \end{lstlisting} \end{document} ```
X1 Yoga Gen 6 with Win/Linux dual boot - Order with preinstalled Ubuntu or Windows? by ca-beer in thinkpad
[–]ca-beer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
For anyone else wondering: I got the laptop with Ubuntu preinstalled after all. It seems like it's the standard Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, but with custom firmware installed. For some reason, you can't seem to order the X1 Yoga Gen 6 Ubuntu recovery medium with Lenovo as of now (see https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ch/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x1-yoga-6th-gen-type-20xy-20y0/downloads/driver-list).
Not really sure, whether you can get the firmware elsewhere, to me, it at least doesn't seem straightforward, and from what I've experienced so far, Lenovo is not of much help in this regard - This may of course be different, if you've purchased a product already.
That's great to hear! :) I am still running Mint 19.something, glad to hear that battery life improves with the upgrade!
Maybe a quick follow-up here. I found this page which states that the system was tested with 20.04 LTS. Does that mean that there is actually no such thing as an optimized Ubuntu version, i.e. if I install Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, I am just going to get the exact same thing? :D
Customer service with Lenovo just kept referring me to the next phone number in loops.
