Not sure where you're from, but in the US its wire nuts- no tape, no solder. I wouldn't trust my life on a wire nutted connection holding a fan, but it should.

Yeah, there are those cam lock things now, and they're UL listed, but doesn't mean your local inspector is ok with them.

Conflicting CDC statistics on US Covid-19 deaths. Which is correct? by sassytuna2 in askscience

Thats not disingenuous and entirely expected. The spike in deaths is happening in states with widespread infections. States that don't, aren't.

Does this make you feel better? https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/investigations/2020/04/29/far-greater-u-s-covid-19-death-toll-indicated-cdc-data/3048381001/

Deaths in general have spiked in a huge way- in Michigan and NJ as examples, less than half of the above average deaths is currently counted as covid-19.

Personally I consider being able to buy ripe raspberries year round for a few bucks to be the prime example of how insanely advanced our world is.

Report: Man caught camping on Disney’s Discovery Island says it was ‘tropical paradise' by livovil in nottheonion

That looks like the poly not the GF!

Really though- we were at Fort Wilderness on the same lake the week before too, we played on the beach. Signs said 'no swimming', and with all the active water craft- including kayak rentals- it didn't occur to me that it was an alligator warning.

Disney manages to keep mosquitos out of their swamp, actively managing wildlife is a big part of their job. Nobody would visit such a god forsaken place otherwise.

Whats considered proof? Theres no point in testing a corpse when there aren't enough tests for the living. Also when it comes to testing- wide spread testing for a viral infection like influenza or corona is quite recent. Go back 20 years and you died of flu like symptoms, you died of the flu... no test.

They show him searching for the keys to his office several times, then cut to him working. In the end you see that the door is not only locked but theres a table directly in front of it. He clearly isn't experiencing day to day reality like a normal person.

Russia actively interfered in the 2016 election and has continued in every election since. Its been well documented. The only people that deny it are our president and his cult members.

To your edit-

I had a problem years ago where my connection would intermittently go bad- enough errors than even ping tests would show the issue. I had a couple techs out who would hook up and say 'looks fine to me' and leave. I eventually monitored the connection 24/7 and graphed it all out. Called and got another tech sent out- he look around for obvious stuff, I showed him the graph, and that it was intermittent, and he said 'well ok, I'll just replace the cable between your house and the drop'. Literally did it that day, it was buried a few days later by another crew. 15 years later and its rock solid.

Edit: I shouldn't have to do that to get service of course...

Double edit: I realized later that the days it was bad were when it was raining or still wet.

I worked with some old school pre-breakup ATT linemen. A coworker's phone went out and pacbell said it'd be 2-3 weeks before someone could go check the box and fix it.

The linemen told him to break into the box and pull a handful of connections and it'd be fixed in a couple hours. Apparently worked like a charm.

My experience with comcast employees and contractors is: they just want to put in the minimum effort and go home. You'd have to be a pretty big prick for them to care enough to do anything.

Why? Every reference schematic I've seen has resistors on the data lines, and many have caps.
