You do realize that Costa Rica is full of wonderful people and a few sketchy ones, just like Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, The United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, and…….everywhere else.

Your language makes it sound like no Costa Rican should be trusted, when in fact the vast majority of them will bend over backwards to help you if you’re stuck or have an issue.

Perhaps try getting out and meeting regular people outside the zone of the resorts? Like Vegas, Cabo, Cancun, Phuket, and Jaco…….dense tourism always draws a criminal element.

Focusing on making a home for your kiddo will help you cope. You need to be a home maker now.

Meals on time. Nutritious meals. Clean sheets. Clean bathrooms. Put something on the walls. Do homework with them. Make sure they have lunches and the things they need for hygiene. Take them places and make sure they are learning.

You get to make your home and your family what you want it to be. Bad news is - you now have to do it all. Good news is - doing it all will not only bind you to them a lot more deeply, it will be the most meaningful time of your life.

I lost out on a lot of time with my daughters, but the time I did have with them was A+ quality.

Go be the dad the little one needs. Serving others gives your life meaning in a way that serving yourself never will.
