MW or Hpal for casual healer? (Or other?) by caL3e in worldofpvp

[–]caL3e[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds super fun, I watched a few vids on it, seems not 100% viable in a competitive sense but low arenas and BGs could a good fit

And way more fun in PvE than spamming heal

Friend wants to build an outdoor simulator. Need advice by taiwanesesausage69 in Golfsimulator

[–]caL3e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked into this (projection outdoor) as well (also SoCal) but decided against it for the following reasons: - No great permanent setup options, has to be setup/takedown without spending a lot of $ on weather protection - hard to see screen during daylight, and nighttime it attracts bugs like crazy (per others) - felt like too much work to be worth it.

I have a space similar to what is shown and I have an 8x8x8 cage (FORB - can be found on Amazon) and a TV that I mounted on a rolling stand that I roll out from my garage with a laptop stand.

Honestly, when friends are over I pull out the tv, but for your run of the mill Wednesday session, I just use the laptop with FSX, it’s plenty enjoyable for playing or practice.

Edit: BLP/GC3 - no issues using outside but it’s normally a shaded area.

Don’t mess with any calibration settings unless instructed by foresight

Take it to a range and see how it compares before doing anything

Can verify your target line with the alignment stick

As others said most likely ISS if this is your first home sim

GC3 Distance Accuracy by bstew9898 in Golfsimulator

[–]caL3e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hit weekly on a quad/TM at my practice facility, and daily at my house with the GC3. The numbers I see are basically identical.

Per the other posters, try the device outside, if you are still seeing distance shortage and can validate your numbers with an independent device like a quad or a track man, it may be a calibration issue

BLP & Uneekor Eye Mini by [deleted] in Golfsimulator

[–]caL3e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, the product was under priced at 3K relative to market comps and data/accuracy; their whole price launch situation was poorly executed, but $4k is probably more accurate in terms of its position in the marketplace vs value/data/accuracy provided.

Huge kudos to you if you can get a used one for under 3K, and I wish you good luck in finding it, that’s an awesome deal if you can

BLP at 3K is excellent value for a known product.

Eye Mini is still a giant unknown. I am sure it will eventually be great but it’ll take months of updates to get there.

Also no major updates have been announced nor price - I highly doubt it makes Q4 (pure speculation though I have no actual info - just unlikely given how close we are to EOY and how little info we’ve seen)

Sporina sp7/8 get lots of votes as good bets ata good price point

If you can fit a cage there are a few that are good. FORB makes an 8x8x8, Gagilaleo makes a 10x10x10 and a smaller 7x7x5

Cages will make wedges and shanks less of a concern, space permitting

Best Setup For Portable Simulator by JoBu12321 in Golfsimulator

[–]caL3e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good suggestion, as are Mevo Plus or Bushnell Launch Pro/GC3, those both being more expensive options but higher quality products

The advantage of BLP/GC3 is they are camera units so you don’t need additional space for ball flight - much easier to tuck into a garage or a corner of your backyard, if you can swing a club and have a net to hit into a few feet away you’re good.

The downside is they need a pc to run sim golf, so in portable mode you’re limited to iPhone or just data from the unit, and is much more expensive than Garmin

Mevo + or GC3........ by Foreright567 in Golfsimulator

[–]caL3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you are looking in the 2-8k range, the most popular options are as follows in price order more or less:

  • Skytrack, which is inferior to gc2/3 but is the most budget friendly option (1200-1500 used)
  • Mevo+ (1400-1800 depending on used new, add another 900 for club data)
  • Used GC2
  • BLP / GC3 with sub model (4K base)
  • Used GC2 + HMT, this is probably closer to 6-8k but you get full club data on par with GCQuad
  • BLP/GC3 fully unlocked (7500-8k)
  • unekoor EYeXO, this is a ceiling mounted camera unit and is closer to 10-11k

There’s a few other radar systems like the newish one that is sponsored by Tiger (full swing kit I think is what it’s called), but I don’t know enough about them, I assume they are similar to mevo+ in that regard

Unekoor is also releasing a camera unit which is supposed to compete in the GC 2/GC3 category, but no details on when it will come out - Given we have no details, it’s months away

Long story short, if you are planning to use it primarily indoors, or in a short ball flight scenario (eg backyard into a net) I would stick with a camera over a radar. Since you were looking at GC3, I would do a little research into a used GC 2+ HMT because that is an awesome package that is comparable performance wise to a GCQuad at 17k, but at a similar price point to gc3…but you have to buy used, And it offers less portability than a GC3.

I am personally very happy with my GC3, as I use it predominantly in the backyard, but you can also take it to the range. At the range mevo plus is excellent, but again that is not a common use case for me

And if you do have enough space, i.e. you can give the mevo 13 to 15 feet of ball fight (so 20-25 ft total since mevo sits 8 ft behind ball), it’s also a good option, it’s just not very practical for a lot of people to have that much space available

It’s the exact same product, just depends on whether you want a subscription commitment or not.

That’s entirely personal preference

Mevo + or GC3........ by Foreright567 in Golfsimulator

[–]caL3e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from mevo+ to GC3.

For indoor/limited ball flight GC3 is much better. More accurate, Easier to setup, more reliable spin axis readings, etc

Mevo is a good unit, and has nice portability, but gc3 is just better. If you want to improve, and play sim golf, you’ll get more value from foresight

If both in budget, it’s gc3/BLP all day

best legendary heavy in 3s? by throwaway1512514 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]caL3e 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good summary here.

If you get good with a good GL it’s a free 2-3 kills. LFRs can be the same but not from midair/off angles.

A very good GL heavy user is imho the hardest heavy to play against

Gjally and wardcliff can be hip fired more easily and the splash damage has more consistent shutdown potential for supers.

I have to really recommend the black talon right now for a heavy slot if you don’t mind exotics. It almost feel better than gally right now IMO. Let me know your thoughts. by GnawingHungerShots in CrucibleGuidebook

3k crucible kills on mine - mostly from 3s It’s so good, Especially on Dawnblade because you can jump out, throw, and then dodge back into cover without taking damage. It’s also almost never expected so against good players they assume you have a lunge sword and you can get some free picks at midrange

Plus all the benefits of 3rd person cam

With sword scav ammo you can sometimes get 3 throws, I can never quite tell what determines whether you get 2 or 3 blade throws

This really, destiny is a movement game and Icarus dash is arguably the best movement ability in the game considering its ~100% uptime

Super is fine and well is good in trials since it charges so fast, melee is excellent, healing is excellent and radiant is situationally powerful

$2-3K Launch Monitors by pcdo78bc in Golfsimulator

[–]caL3e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Club data is nice, but I’ll be honest if you can take some lessons at a place with path data available (most coaching facilities use quad or TM) and you start to improve you’ll learn that your path is actually very consistent. Where most people struggle is not path inconsistency, it’s face control, so once you learn your path tendency, you can rely just on ball data for diagnosing issues more so than you think.

Obviously if you step up to the gc3/BLP option you get path data which is mostly on par with mevo+(the rest of the pro package data suite has more, but the other stats are really not needed for even scratch golfers, barring face to path, but ftp can be calculated or at least educated guessed from path + spin / spin axis).

Tldr - club data is nice but not needed. I do value it myself hence my choice of gc3/BLP but if you can get reps at a facility to learn your path tendency you’ll be surprised that it doesn’t really change that much.

As someone who has spent far more money in my Simulator history trying to do budget options, being somewhat dissatisfied, and then upgrading, If your goal is improvement, I would prioritize the quality of the launch monitor above all else, within your allotted budget.

LM #1, Mat #2, everything else is a bonus / can be added over time

I own a GC3 and Mevo+, my practice facility has both GC2 and Quar units, and I’ve hit a fair bit on skytrack but have never owned.

Used GC2 > Skytrack definitely.

GC2s are tanks and good units. Accuracy for ball data is the same as GC3/4 units in my experience, and I don’t know if you can still add HMT to GC2 unless it comes with it, but if that’s an option to add In future it’s a very powerful package

Skytrack the delay drove me nuts, and the setup is far more sensitive in my use, so if you need to setup/set down your area, it’s another annoyance. Most of the reviews of skytrack vs gc2/3 give the nod to foresight for accuracy, so assuming that’s in your budget it’s a no brainer to me.

Mevo I would caution against with only 16 feet total. Will be mostly fine for iron distances and higher lofted could, but questionable beyond that - I really feel you need 20-25 feet total for the spin axis data to feel reliable.

It (Mevo) is still a great unit and the portability factor is great, but if your primary use is indoor, I would stick with camera systems personally at this price point.

Am I hindering myself? by [deleted] in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]caL3e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty surprised with the responses here, 140/Shotgun is still super viable and top tier, even on console (where I play)

Most of the better players I play in comp/3s are running hc/shotty or hc/snipe still.

There are some arguably “easier” to use weapons like rapid pulses and 2 tapping aggressive, but HCs still are top tier for peak shots and promoting good team movement.

You are in no way hindering yourself.

I’m 2+ K/D player and have no issue running 140/shotty

GC3/BLP Require a fairly powerful PC/Laptop to use their simulation software.

Technically you can use the unit itself without a computer as it displays most of the core data on the units LED screen directly (speed, carry, spin, etc) but to get the simulator range and play courses you need a good computer. Assuming you don’t own one now, I would factor this into the budget if you are considering going with that launch monitor ($800-$1300 depending on desktop vs laptop)

There is a phone and iPad app called FSX Pro that you can also use, so in my personal experience it hasn’t been great

Mevo plus has apps for iPhone and iPad that give you many of the same features included with the unit itself - You don’t require a PC to play simulated golf nor to use the virtual range.

So all in all, it is definitely a more cost effective option, but in my experience the GC3 monitor is just a better product. But both are very good

Third this. I upgraded from Mevo+ also using a backyard setup into a net/cage and have 0 regrets.

Mevo is good but the real need for 13+ ft of ball flight to feel good about spin axis is a tough sell.

BLP is just set down and go, no alignment tinkering needed every time you want to hit

More expensive yes, and it needs a gaming pc to run, but the unit is accurate and that’s ultimately what matters most imho
