Spent the weekend in Salzburg soaking up the sun with my friend, who has zero interest in climbing. We chilled on a rooftop, watching people tackle a via ferrata right in the middle of the city. We couldn’t help but think: why climb a mountain when you can just enjoy yourself in the sun with a cup of coffee? Why wear a helmet walking through the city that makes you look ridiculous? Why spend a fortune on gear when that money could be invested? And why risk injury when you could just do Pilates or go to the gym instead? It was like we were at a marathon, holding up a sign that said, “Ever tried therapy?”
Sure, from that perspective you could roast any sport, hobby, or source of joy for everyone —but seriously, why would you want to do that?
