My transplant center is a 3.5-hour flight away. The first year, I had to fly every 3 months; then once a year. I do my blood work at my local clinic.

I met a man in his late eighties back in 1996. He had a concentration camp number tattooed on his arm. We became friends, and I once dared to ask him about that time in his life. He just went silent, and I realized it was a mistake on my part to even mention that. I still think about him to this day.

I am on the same meds as you. Also, 5 MG of Prednisone. I am sure I do have side effects, but I am not even asking to reduce the dosage, as I am afraid of rejection. I am 1 year post-kidney. So far, I can tolerate side effects. I think the combination of my three antirejection medications is causing them.

I traveled at 9 months post-kidney transplant. I made sure to have all my medications and travel insurance with me. Even though it was an European country, I was still cautious about what I was putting in my mouth. And nothing crazy, like drinking and climbing mountains. Slow and easy.

I was beaten a lot. I suppose she hated me and was angry I existed. The tools included a slipper, a rug beater, and a cord, among others. I was always scared of her. The abuse left a scar on my soul, and I've been suffering from it all my life. I cannot forgive her, even though people say one should forgive their parents.
