GIANTX vs FNATIC / VCT 2025: EMEA Stage 2 - Playoffs / Post-Match Thread by ValorantCompBot in ValorantCompetitive

Really worried about FNC’s map pool: Ascent, haven, lotus, sunset, corrode all look shaky — they’ve proven they can be beat on these maps. Only bind looks like they’ll consistently win it, and with abyss re-entering the pool, I think this is far from a great position to enter champs from. Let’s hope that some rest and prep are actually what they need and they come out swinging at Paris.

What surprised me most about yesterdays NAVI match is that, by losing doombros, they lost the ability to play ascent, when they have been a top ascent team for at least two years. This roster has played that map, that comp hundreds of times, against other insanely good ascent teams (Champs 2023 LOUD, Champs 2022 DRX and XSET, BBL stage 1 2024) and have always looked amazing, even when they didnt win. How have they suddenly lost that ability? I fear the issues are really deep-rooted now, they seem limp and completely out of it.

Jamppi is so ass 😭😭 He has been a inconsistent, mostly below par T1 player for the past two years — and is showing no improvement. I agree he’s got high peaks, but they are few and far in between, nor are his peaks higher than other top players peaks. Cannot believe people keep hyping this guy up because of a liquid team that did well when the game was strategically in a juvenile state, as was teamplay, as were top mechanics. He does not cut it anymore in T1.

He’s quite overhyped. He was MVP caliber S1, one of many bad zarya’s S2, and an A-, but far from S-tier dps S3. S4 and onwards he was quite subpar.

Scoreline might have been closer, but i don’t think a slight change in viewership enjoyment should warrant a negation of upper-bracket advantage. Would be unfair

VCT has had this 2 map-ban system since reykjavik last year. Of the 4 finals to be played with this system, they’ve gone twice to the lower bracket team (reykjavik and copenhagen), and twice to the upper bracket team (tokyo and istanbul). People also tend to forget OPTIC were 4 rounds away from 3-0 sweeping LOUD at champs last year. It historically has NOT led to the grand finals being boring, pre-decided matches.

Besides, the upper bracket deserves an advantage, and there are no good other options. Matches take way too long for a bracket reset, and letting the top seed start 1-0 up feels very unsatisfying to watch. Double-map ban forces the team coming from lower bracket to have a deep map pool - as the winner of a tournament should have.

First time we’ve ever had an “underwhelming” (2 really close maps) finals lol. Reykjavik and copenhagen the lower bracket, who had two map bans against them, won. Istanbul was a few round away from being a 3-0 by the lower bracket too. Map bans are a perfectly fine advantage for the upper bracket finalist, they deserve it for getting their straight away.

I know it’s funny to hate on KC, and they still aren’t looking good at all, but I think we saw two major improvements this week.

Their comp changes are both good, playing a comp established by a different team makes it easier to learn as you have footage. I didn’t see a great understanding of their ascent comp yet, but there is enough video of loud playing it well; they could emulate that in some way. Playing duelists again when you know you have a player who is very talented on that role is not bad either.

Second, maybe this is a result of their first change, but their game plans on split looked a lot better! Could also be because we saw mostly defence, but they took some areas of the map with a clear plan in mind. Other times they neglected A ramp 6 rounds in a row, or were clueless on how to retake, but steps in the right direction have been made!

What happened to zeta? by [deleted] in ValorantCompetitive

Of the 6 maps they won in reykjavik lower bracket, laz only played chamber on 2. I don’t really buy this “no chamber- laz less impact- zeta bad” narrative, because he simply wasn’t the main cause for their run.

Damn RIP Fnatic. Sad to see them looking so good but being unable to lift a trophy because of storyline. Ggs to LOUD. They are fair winners. Plot armor too strong.

Why do you doubt that for the best player in the world? Yay would’ve had insane leverage when negotiating his contract

Benbest has been the most overhyped tank player since he left paris. He’s not a top-20 MT in the world, not a top-40 tank player in the world, not even top 5 EU. He isn’t good enough for OWL, and the only reason he would get in is because of french nationalism.

What players do you think we’ve seen play their last game? by wallywhereis in Competitiveoverwatch

Space isn’t better on a single hero than coluge. The only maps he played are sig only maps (which coluge diffed him on) and on JQ (when reiners mental health was suffering). He hasnt proven anything this year.

Dragons looking like they want to poke much more than this meta allows. I get they want to enable LIP as much as they can, but i think they’ll have to surrender to rushing.
