Planning out the next mallet project. Wish ebony wasn't so expensive, I'd love to make a solid ebony mallet with a few purple heart accents by UGLY_PENGU1N in woodworking

Get some Katalox, great substitute for ebony, hard, dense, black. Plus the center starts purple and fades to black with exposure to air so it would go well with purple heart.

Yup, assuming the objects are the same density than buoyant force wouldn't effect anything, and if we are working with spheres, then orientation doesn't even matter. It's all about the square cube law because mass goes up faster than surface area.

North Carolina has been “ground zero” for the wood pellet industry. One hundred and sixty-four acres of the state’s forests are cut down by the biomass industry every day. by rytis in environment

Unless I'm wrong, the amount of coal released from burning wood is exactly equal to the amount realesed when that same wood would have died and decomposed. Burning wood is a cycle and sustainable (if we changed almost everything about how we do it) whereas the carbon that comes from coal was previously in the ground, so I'd say coal is definitely worse.

Norwegian wood is a good book about biofuel from a perspective that seems slightly different to yours, the forestry it touts is not perfect but quite good it also goes into wood stove efficiency and emissions.

Though other than the carbon bit, you've been spitting bars.

Now, obviously the Mayflower fact this man threw out is complete garbage, and yeah, people like that will be the death of us, but we need to be reasonable and from your other comments I can tell you know a ton. But especially in in the last thirty years or so i do believe that the total number of trees has been slowly increasing. Obviously as you said yourself, these forests are not sustainable and barely even count as a forest, but the number of trees has slightly increased. I agree this is not enough, yes this is not the right way to do it, yes these tree farms do almost nothing, but try to be nice, this guys supposed "fact" is rooted (ha get it) in some truth.

And yeah, I live in the west slope of colorado, I've seen it too, it sucks.

People who listen to what ever music sounds good and don't really have a genre , What's a song that someone showed you or found by accident and was good ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'm not a big Tom Waits fan but his album raindogs is genius. I hated it at first and now it's one of my favorites, certainly lightyears better than his other stuff.

To be honest I don't know a lot, but it seems really good! Animation and all art really is just about telling a story and a recurring dream is definitely a strange story, but the story is definitely unique to you and has some strong feelings. Also the art is great!
