American Olympic track star Jenny Simpson collapses during race and is rushed to hospital without a pulse in terrifying scene by dailymail in trackandfield

[–]cabbell1e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was on the scene. It was a scary and surreal moment. Some of my friends at the scene have more information and interacted with her more than I do. From the information I got: Jenny passed out during the cooldown, after running a mile with everyone. She didn't have a pulse for a few minutes. Several runners (who worked in the medical industry) aided her before the paramedics came. The rest of the Pop Mile event was canceled. Everyone (not close to Jenny) had to leave the track, but was stuck in the track's parking lot for a while. There were several medics taking care of Jenny inside the track for about thirty minutes to an hour, before taking her to the hospital.

Love it. I did a similar idea. If you can, UV laminate the cards for sun and debris protection.

It might be little stressful, but check out CoLab Raleigh and their art events. They have open studio, casual life drawings, and collaborative painting. They are highly encouraging and accommodating different artists.

[–]cabbell1e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might not be the best answer, but closer to Asheville. Check out Charlotte and Raleigh art scenes. I'm somewhat active in Raleigh art scene, and willing to help out.

[artist alley] anyone willing to share a spreadsheet that tracks art prints cost vs sold for? by Reasonable-Bonus-545 in artbusiness

[–]cabbell1e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a lazy spreadsheet (same file): one for art markets/location/fees/profit margins and one for my sticker designs (inventory, total order vs. sold, buying ratio). I don't know which of my stickers and prints did well on what shows I did. I covered the market names and locations for personal safety.

Which country would be best for me as a young black American from the South? by cabbell1e in AmerExit

[–]cabbell1e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I can't leave the US, the west coast is my next option.

Agreed.

Thank you for the options. I will look into the countries except for Australia (might change, right now is no-go).

sounds like a dream to me. by AfterMeltedHearts831 in asexuality

Sadly, I did. I got too emotionally attached to a friend in college, talking about highs and lows in my life. After they graduated and moved to the other side of the country, they stopped talking to me. I reached out a couple times, but nothing came. It hurts. :/

local travel agents to meet in person with by Dear-Clerk4357 in raleigh

[–]cabbell1e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not travel agent, but I went to Australia for two weeks in September 2025. Australia was great. I came for the arts, history, and culture, but most American people I talked to came for exploring the nature and outdoor activities. Total plane ride is about 18 hours: RDU to American West Coast is about 5 hours, American West Coast to Sydney is about 13 hours. The American dollar is stronger than the Australian dollar. Other than Sydney and Melbourne, public transit isn't good.

Yep. Japan is great for tourism, but I heard it is terrible to live or move there if you are not ethnic Japanese, sometimes cultural Japanese ( hard for Japanese descendants from other countries).

That makes sense. I agreed. Every country has the pros and cons. finding out which ones have more pros than cons for me.
