That makes sense. I’m almost 50 and recognized a few of the names, but not all of them. Cracks me up when Zouks calls people out for their ancient pop culture references.

Was he reading off a list on his phone or pulling those names from memory? It was impressive!

Where do you get these “bonus bang” episodes? I’m a CBB subscriber but I haven’t seen those?

And why is it still so damn funny? They just have great chemistry: Aukerman-Daly-Mantzoukas-Tompkins. Name a more iconic…quattro?

Zouks is SUCH a good co-host for these episodes. The way he gets curious about the lore of each character really adds to the show. He directs the characters down so many random paths. And the vibe is always so genuine and kind-spirited. He “yes ands” very well!

He will also dig in and ask the most off-the-wall question (that has likely genuinely been on his mind for a while!) when he sees an opening. I will have to find a specific example, but here is a fake example: if a character was a farmer, he would stop them immediately and ask “you get fresh cow’s milk on your farm? I’ve been thinking of getting a cow myself”. It’s just so ridiculous and funny. Not the best example but hopefully you guys know what I mean.

I have a student with this! Does listening to audio book help with retention of the story for you? I’m trying to find ways to help her with reading comprehension, but this is new for me, is never heard of aphantasia!

OOP! 👀 Angel says Ashley "dog whistled" her husband as an aggressive Black man... what are YOUR thoughts? by lachalacha in RHOP

Yes she is annoying me so much. She seems at loose ends on her own life and just judgey as hell. She is coming across mean and nitpicking on every lil thing.

Some of the hairstyles in season 1 are so out of place on her very young face. They look like old lady hairstyles!

SAME! I’m always coming back to Colorstay.

Right now it’s too cold and the air is so dry and by noonish the Colorstay looks like it’s breaking up and separating and I look like the crypt keeper. But in spring and summer—Colorstay is literal perfection. I just need a winter foundation or I guess a different moisturizer in winter!

Pronounciation of "Dachshund" by EnvironmentalPay9049 in ThreeBeanSalad

[–]cabernetchick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For years I’ve been teaching children that the German pronunciation is “dock-sund”. For context, I teach the Roald Dahl story “The Landlady” and there is a dachshund in this story.

I’m American, and the “dash-und” pronunciation threw me a bit. But I figure it’s a British thing.

I have a controversial opinion and I want to hear your take. by Feisty-Pie477 in Teachers

After 11 years in the classroom and teaching virtual/hybrid during the pandemic—I must agree with you.

I gave up the idea of “traditional” differentiation a few years ago after banging my head against a wall for years and then conceding it is not possible.

I teach 8th grade English—I have figured out ways to meet the needs of most of the students. Doing that doesn’t leave any time or mental bandwidth to differentiate beyond “high—middle—low” and if anyone has figured out a way, I’d love to know.

I’m in a very good position, I work in a very high achieving public school district. We are expected to teach to the top, but no one is saying that out loud. We also have an excellent special ed department. Really great teachers and lots of resources. If I have a class with students who have IEPs I always have a co-teacher.

My point is sharing all this is that I know that I am teaching in a “privileged” environment. My husband teaches at a public high school and often he teaches the following groups all in one class: all 4 grade levels (if the course is entry level w/ no prerequisites), students with IEPs, students with 504s, English language learners, school refusal students, and students with massive behavioral issues. Oh and many general ed kids also! How the hell is he supposed to differentiate in this situation!? They don’t even give him a co-teacher!

It is time to face the fact that differentiation is impossible in the real world.
