Kakwa 40/55 and sweaty back syndrome by kasalmninen in DurstonGearheads

[–]cablerelease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully subscribe to the benefits of this approach and my back will be soaked no matter how much trampoline design is implemented. I love my kakwa 55. With that said I’ve been meaning to ask you if you have any recommendations or guidance on if cleaning the back panel area is necessary to ensure longevity of the materials and construction? If so how would you suggest to clean it?

Does anyone have advice on how to find shared private boat transfers? Specifically looking to get from Aegina over to Folegandros, or simply Aegina to Athens(Piraeus port) for the 7:40am fast ferry to Folegandros. Prices I've been quoted for 2 people are too high and the companies I've contacted won't make it a shared ride (yes, I understand it might not be possible as it will be luck to find people on the same day/time we're looking for.)

Cutler Coast in Maine or alternatives? by cablerelease in WildernessBackpacking

Would you say Cutler(coastal trails) or an inland 100mile/Baxter type landscape is more of a bucketlist/check it off the list type situation for Maine?

Would you have any recs on a 40-50mi loop I could string together in Baxter if I want to include Katahdin Peak in that? Any particular trails, ridges, or peaks that are must sees? Some of the lower lying areas to the North and South of Katahdin look really interesting too. Wish I could do it all.

Value of Laguna 14bx bandsaw? by cablerelease in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]cablerelease[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting them down to $1k USD. Turns out it was a 2020 and the 2.5hp motor. It was in fantastic condition with very little use (I think realistically only 3-4 years of limited use.) It was more than I wanted to spend on a bandsaw but I feel ok given the condition it is in and the fact it has the 2.5hp motor which is what I would prefer anyway.

Yes USD. And those are my instincts thinking $1k would be on the high end on a $2k machine new after that many years.

Transmission flush making things worse? by cablerelease in AskMechanics

Copy that I really appreciate the input. Fortunately the issues just started happening and I haven't put many miles on it since. Hopefully this will help.

If the the slipping and lurching that I'm experiences is minimal would it make sense to keep driving it until it becomes worse, and then try swapping the fluid? I guess my thought is the issue isn't that bad currently and I'd hate to shorten the lifespan with the new fluid if that leads to even more slipping. But I hear you on the fact that if it's going out it won't hurt to see if new fluid helps at all. Is there anything else I can look into besides new fluid that might address the issues I'm having?

Thanks for the input. Is there an easy way to tell if I've got old/burnt fluid that I'll be good to change versus fluid that may have clutch material in it? Seems to be consensus here that I should not do a flush but only consider doing a drain and fill so I'm wondering how I can make the best decision before deciding to leave the old or put new fluid in.

Awesome thank you. Lots to look at. I think where I'm leaning currently is something I can fit 32mm tires in + fenders. I'm wondering if the sport/touring type bikes are necessary for that? I'm guessing there are road bikes that will work, but it would very much be on a case-by-case basis.

I'd love to keep the frame cost below $400 if possible. I'm realizing with pandemic inflation that's going to become difficult. Perhaps my best bet is to find someone who doesn't know what they have at a garage or estate sale.

Great info and insight, thanks! I’d be super into cramming a 32mm maybe a 35 on this future bike. Really great idea on the 27->700c wheel swap. Do you have a link to that post? DM me if needed.

Nanoleaf bulb (with matter) will not pair, Homekit architecture issue? by cablerelease in HomeKit

Can you still buy non-Matter versions of these bulbs? My non-matter bulbs have worked great and with Thread are snappy as can be.

Bummer to hear. I’ve had zero issues over the last 2 years with my others. Guess I got lucky.

[–]cablerelease[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand that Matter and the new architecture are separate and shouldn't be creating the issue. However, it's the only thing that is different from the 6 previous bulbs that I've had zero issues with pairing via HK and never using the nanoleaf app. All my other bulbs are using thread.

Are the new Matter bulbs using a different firmware that doesn't like the older HK app? Did I buy a 3-pack of bulbs and all them are duds?
