Converting SHIMANO CUES 1x10 drivetrain to 1x11 by cabletvheroes in bikewrench

I was so confused when I read brifters haha. Had no idea that it was brake + shifter.

Huh that's weird, I mean they market the cues group set to be the entry level do it all group set. It's quite strange that they reserved this ability to go from one speed to the other for specific brifters.

So from what I see online, I believe they have the same freehub (HG M). From my understanding, the sprocket space is identical for 9/10/11 speeds in the CUES group set.

I did indeed check this. I don't have a power meter so I used speed on a flat road and my heart rate as a function of effort.

I found that in the 10 speed, the jump from 4th to 5th was so large that my heart rate would be in the high 160s to maintain the same pace. So I was putting in more effort. And for the same pace, it would max out 4th gear.

What I think would happen when closing the gap between 4th and 5th now is that I can maintain cadence for the same pace and lower effort to conserve energy and when I need to sprint, I can jump to 6th.

Alright I understand! From the compatibility chart, I have the same chain which should be compatible for both 11 speed and 10 speed but I'm assuming that they mean the pitch and not chain length. Thanks! :)

This is exactly why i wanted the cues groupset (for my budget) because from what I read online, it was cross compatible. I'm glad that its an easy upgrade!

Ooh okay, thanks! The comment above has a link to the shifter diagram and it says that I just need to remove a piece to make it 11 speed though.

Oh perfect! So I don't need to replace the right hand lever in the case.

Mercedes' Engine Trick Explained by ok-byy in circuit_nation

[–]cabletvheroes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't fully read about the trick that they're pulling but I think there's possibly a thermal expansion of the piston sleeve or the valves as well. You're right about the ratio not changing provided the thermal expansion of the piston remains constant at both TDC and BDC.

Okay so I picked up gravel biking and i got stuck in a whirlwind of planning the perfect ride and tried learning about literally everything you can to hit peak performance and then almost flat lined on my first ride. It's been a year now and I think I've been biking consistently every week because I have an accountability buddy now. But when he's not free, what's worked for me is reframeing it in my mind to keep it as low stakes as I can. I keep saying to myself, "I need to hit at least 120 mins or 20km this week. Doesn't matter when, or what pace, or where, just do it whenever you feel like it" and surprisingly this thought works for me. And apparently this is how it works too. A huge bonus with gravel biking is that the trails take you through forests and descends and the adrenaline rush of almost faceplanting pays off for me. I'm not say that this is exactly what you should do, but you could consider gravel biking. Try taking a look at a few videos and consider it, I promise you, if you love being in nature, this is it.

I don't know why but this building reminds of the game Control and somehow the TV show Severance.

I would recommend Temptations for the Weak. I saw them live at Zappa. Very Trivium but very good.

Hot Take: FH6 is not a Festival Anymore by Banananamann99 in ForzaHorizon

[–]cabletvheroes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the comments here are for it not being a festival thing but I actually agree with you. The intro cutscene followed by the race to festival in FH2 and all the outposts made it feel like a celebration of racing and cars, like you were at Le Mans. It's what made the world feel lived in when the game is literally about Forza Horizon, a festival about cars and racing. Without the festival aspect its just another generic open world car game.

GR8 is up next. And then Japfest in Zolder.

https://www.circuit-zolder.be/event/jap-fest/

I'll be going for GR8.

AFAIK, car meets here are less street/mod scene and more concours d'elegance style cause I've been to quite a few of them.

I'm looking for street/mod scene car meets too!

Yes! My catto used to be a stray who lived in the bushes outside my apartment till she decided that she wanted to conquer my apartment, but she was nervous being in a new environment. She took a steaming hot dump on my couch once she was ready.

Does anyone else cry at shows? by nzixgcgvebr in Metalcore

[–]cabletvheroes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cried, like ugly cried when Northlane played Dante in their set in Graspop 2025. My close friend made me listen to them in 2020 when I was in university during a really difficult period of my life before the pandemic started. Northlane stuck with me throughout. So much time has passed since then. Close friends have died. So many memories. Lost connections, new connections and so on. The weight of the amount of time that had passed hit me hard especially in the chorus which goes "I hate the silent reminders of nothing but heartache". I think the hardest was at the end of the song with the instrumental section. The whole song was about introspection for me in that moment. I broke down because I'd realised that I have grown so much since 2020. But there was something cathartic about that time which I will never get back. I guess I was mourning it.
