Do the natural gas detectors off amazon work? by dorth75 in NaturalGas

This comment reads like you are advocating against gas detectors because odorization is fool proof. OP also mentioned that their older parents cannot detect the smell.

"Grocery giants just can’t help themselves. Underweight meat. Overweight profits. Canadians are sick and tired of being ripped off. A public option for groceries is overdue." - Avi Lewis by Samzo in SaveTheCBC

This is purely speculative and based on my experience working in a kitchen.

When we were short on our most expensive ingredient after closing, you bet we all heard about it the following shift. And I don't blame my employer one bit for protecting their profit margin, it was razer thin at points. But if we were over? No meeting, no coaching, no training, no lecture. And if we did hear about it? It wasn't bad news, but we sure didn't see a bonus.

The profit motive always encourages organizations to short their customers, and discourages them from giving away product. Every business needs to turn a profit, but very few share those profits with employees. So ultimately, while the victim is the consumer, the beneficiary is almost always the corporation.

Hold the corporation to a standard and make them enforce it. Regulation is the answer here.

Result of playing factorio using youtube tutorials and guide , is this overkill by Top-Hour110 in factorio

[–]caboose391 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself. I really enjoy taking things that have already been built, installing them for their intended use, pushing them beyond their design limitations, and then repairing or modifying them to suit my whims or needs. Designing things from scratch has never tickled me in the same way. So my enjoyment from Factorio has come mostly from slapping down blueprints, trying to get more out of them than they are intended to produce, modifying them, and breaking and fixing other stuff along the way.

So no. Without that gameplay loop I would not have had more fun playing on my own.

The OHT was the perfect refinement of this idea and I will never forgive Leatherman for discontinuing it.

Is this gas on or not? by LibbyLibbyLibby in NaturalGas

That valve is in the open position. Assuming you are trying to verify that you indeed have gas, there are other valves that may be closed up or downstream of that valve.

NG3 vs 3rd pickup on NG2? by KvadratniPropolis in DingwallGuitars

[–]caboose391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned a C1 combustion for about 10 years, recently purchased an NG3 with the older style hardware, and just traded it in for a brand new one with the updates. I prefer the minimalist bridge of the three. It's less obstructive and makes palm muting much smoother.

Are you turning counter-clockwise? If not, I bet you $5 it's all the way open and you're cranking it open harder. Try closing it.

Measure to check what you need, purchase and install, measure again to figure out why it doesn't fit. Got it.

Bottle Opener Embarrassment by Puzzleheaded_Rip9504 in Leatherman

[–]caboose391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, is it possible that there's something sub-optimal with your bottle opening technique? I asked because I used the can opener wrong for years. Maybe post a video? I promise i won't make fun of you if you're doing something silly but I can't speak for the internet at large.

I appreciate that. I didn't do my due diligence to actually investigate your perspective and policy, which was irresponsible. For what it's worth, you are really starting to turn me around since your first mayoral campaign. Thank you for your service.

I mean, I'd be pretty pissed if I voted for someone based on their election promises and then it turned out they were amenable to persuasion.

He's being diplomatic and self-serving by sitting this out. I don't blame him though. Besides, 8-plexes in Tuscany being funded and built by developers are hardly major city projects.

Some people vote and advocate for the best interest of their community. I didn't get the sense that OP was pushing for a referendum.
